Featured are four receivers who performed well in 2022 but are widely considered to be breakout candidates in 2023. That being said, I see a rankings boost for all these athletes in due time and some very exciting performances once Fall comes around!
Mill Coleman Mill Coleman 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI | GR Catholic Central | Hudl
From what I know, there’s quite a bit of buzz surrounding Mill Coleman Mill Coleman 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI . Mill is a highly athletic and FAST receiver that is a real deep threat. He’s a star on the track, and he’ll be bringing a dynamic game to the OK-Gold. Mill is heading into a situation where the offense is more balanced, and the QB is much better. Mill’s ranking is quite conservative right now, as I think he can quickly skyrocket up the rankings. Time will tell, but I know Catholic Central is extremely excited about what Mill brings to the table.
Jake Vermaas Jake Vermaas 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR South Christian | 2024 State MI | South Christian | Hudl
Over the past six months, Jake Vermaas Jake Vermaas 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR South Christian | 2024 State MI has quietly put up some very impressive performances. I may sound like a broken record at this point, but Jake’s State Championship performance + Legacy RISE Midwest MVP makes him a very intriguing prospect. In addition, he’s been getting it done on the hardwood, putting up great numbers against top competition. Great athlete, has great hands, route-running, 50/50 wins, etc.
Damion King Damion King 5'7" | 150 lbs | WR De La Salle | 2026 State MI | De La Salle | Hudl
A lot of people are very high on Damion King Damion King 5'7" | 150 lbs | WR De La Salle | 2026 State MI . The De La Salle freshman broke out this past season, performing exceptionally well time and time again. It’s already extremely impressive starting as a freshman for De La Salle (likely the largest program in MI), but to show out on some big stages that are extremely impressive. In a complex passing offense, Damion runs the entire route tree incredibly well and makes plays when thrown to. Sure, he isn’t yet an elite D1 prospect yet, but that’s where he’s headed.
Robbie Martin Robbie Martin 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Davison | 2026 State MI | Davison | Hudl
Another great rising star is Robbie Martin Robbie Martin 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Davison | 2026 State MI . Robbie was a two-way starter on the JV level this past season, and he played great on both sides. As a receiver, Robbie is athletic, very fit, and performed well at our last showcase. Davison loves putting Robbie in motion, running jet sweeps, and some short-yardage routes. It’s unclear what role Robbie will play at the Varsity level, but at his floor, he’s a great varsity starter. Excited to see what the 2023 season has in store for Robbie!
