There were studs from Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi out there competing to show they can compete with some of the best amongst the nation. The Texas prospects showed up in great numbers. There were some Mississippi and Arkansas guys there making a name for themselves as well. Let’s take a look.
Zion Taylor Zion Taylor 6'2" | 235 lbs | DL Shadow Creek | 2024 State TX , DE, 2024, Shadow Creek (Tex)
Taylor was one of the defensive linemen MVPs for this camp. He came out and showed great athleticism. I love the way he attacks the rush. He makes it hard for offensive linemen to get a solid block on him. He has a lot of different moves that he uses to get to the quarterback. Taylor isn’t the tallest guy, but he makes his arms very long when he initiates his fighting hands. He is a guy that is well-known throughout the nation. He showed yesterday that there is no hype about him.
Marcos Davila Marcos Davila 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Midland Lee | 2024 State TX , QB, 2024, Midland Legacy (Tex)
Davila displayed great accuracy yesterday. He also has a very smooth throwing motion. Davila hit four out of five targets in an accuracy drill. The way he approaches the line of scrimmage before a play on film also shows you his maturity. Yesterday I was able to see that in person. Davila has committed to Purdue. Can’t wait to see him play later in the year.
Brandon Tullis, RB, 2024, Frisco Memorial (Tex)
Tullis was showing off great receiving skills at running back yesterday. This young man knows how to get a linebacker on his heels in one on one coverage. He also makes great adjustments to the ball when it is in the air. Tullis is a bigger running back at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds that knows how to be more than just a physical runner. He is a guy that I will definitely be keeping up with.
Kewan Lacy, RB, 2024, Lancaster (Tex)
Lacy was very dominant yesterday. It is very hard to get a good defensive rep on this young man. He is very shifty and knows how to get open. Lacy makes his moves then gets his head around to find the football. He is another guy that has great ball skills. There aren’t many linebackers that are going to be able to hold him.
Taz Williams, WR, 2025, Red Oak (Tex)
I have been a fan of Williams for a few months now. Yesterday I was able to see him in person for the first time. This young man did not disappoint. Williams runs very good routes. You can tell that he is constantly working on his craft in the offseason. He is a player that a lot of college programs want on their team. Williams also has very good ball skills. He gets in and out of his cuts very smoothly. He is another guy I have on my list to go and see play later this year.
Michael Fasusi Michael Fasusi 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL Lewisville | 2025 State TX , OL, 2025, Lewisville (Tex)
Fasusi is very aggressive with defensive linemen. Yesterday he was very dominant. What I like about Fasusi is his patience with his hands. He doesn’t anticipate movements from defensive lineman. He is a guy that trust his skills on the football field. Fasusi has seen his stock rise a lot this past year. He is a guy coaches want on their team.
Charleston Collins Charleston Collins 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Little Rock Mills | 2024 State AR , DL, 2024, Mills (Ark)
Collins was out there with his swagger right yesterday. He talk his smack and backs it up. He was one of the defensive linemen MVPs yesterday. Collins is a big guy who is in great shape. He looks ready to go make an impact on a college program right now today. Collins is very vicious on the defensive line. He was giving offensive linemen the blues yesterday. I’ll be making a trip to Little Rock to see him play this year.
KJ Edwards, RB, 2026, Carthage
Edwards ran a 10.78 100m dash a couple of days before showing up to this camp. Yesterday he showed off that great speed again. Edwards is going to be a beast over these next few years. He could use some work on his routes out of the backfield. Taht will come as he trains more. Edwards is a competitor and was not afraid of the older competition. Edwards has good hands. He already has a handful of division one offers. Texas Tech and Nebraska are already in the mix.
