Leading up to the complete, 200-player list on Thursday, we will count down the top 30 in greater detail.
And make sure to check back throughout the week following the release for additional features and positional breakdowns.
And check out Nos. 5-1 below.
No. 5 Trey’Dez Green Trey’Dez Green 6'7" | 225 lbs | ATH Zachary | 2024 State LA | 6-7, 210 ATH | East Feliciana
With a slight climb, Green is not a top-five prospect in the Louisiana on both the Prep Redzone and Prep Hoops lists — a dynamic that provides an interesting wrinkle as he dives back into the recruiting process this offseason. Green’s agility and coordination at his height — whether running routes on the field or handling the ball on the court — are impressive. The East Feliciana standout covers a lot of ground quickly and excels, naturally, with the ball in the air with his height, leap, body control and high-pointing ability. His leap from Class 2A competition, where he has almost a full foot of height advantage over some defenders, to elite college levels may take a little time to acclimate. But Green has tools that can’t be taught and, in just a couple years playing the sports, has proven himself quick to progress with his route-running and footwork into a more consistent weapon with 42 catches as a junior for 864 yards and 14 touchdowns, including a 73-yarder against eventual Division-III select runner-up Dunham. His list of offers in one or, in most cases, both sports includes LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Colorado, Florida State, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Miami, Arkansas, Houston, Purdue, Louisiana (Lafayette), ULM, Southern Miss, Northwestern State, Southern, Grambling State and Wichita State.
No. 4 Kolaj Cobbins Kolaj Cobbins 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Destrehan | 2024 State LA | 6-3, 205 LB | Destrehan
The speedy edge rusher is another of Destrehan’s standout juniors who managed to earn and excel in a big role amid the Wildcats’ special 2023 group in the program’s undefeated state championship push. Cobbins has been a top-five prospect in every iteration of Prep Redzone Louisiana’s rankings for the 2024 class and moves up a spot from No. 5 to No. 4. His explosiveness into the backfield was quickly attention-grabbing as an underclassman, and “Tut” worked hard last offseason to continue to develop his coverage skills to be a more complete player in his role. The result was an all-state junior performance of 82.5 tackles, including 16 for loss and 10.5 sacks, along with another 16 hurries, five breakups, three forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown. Cobbins has narrowed his long list of recruiting suitors to a top six of LSU, Colorado, Michigan, Texas, Oregon and Ole Miss.
No. 3 Wardell Mack Wardell Mack 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB John Ehret | 2024 State LA | 6-1, 180 DB | John Ehret
The highest-ranked New Orleans prospect in Louisiana’s 2024 class holds steady at No. 3 in the latest rankings update. Hometown Tulane was the first to offer Mack last January, and his list now includes LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Florida State, Colorado Arkansas, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Miami, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Duke, ULM, Marshall, Troy, Grambling State and Southern. The speedy Mack is a dynamic playmaker for his Patriots in all three phases, but is a particularly impressive corner with his long arms, quick feet, strong hands, fluid hips blanketing opposing receivers step for step and explosive break to deflect passes or tackle ball-carriers. Whether shooting his hands at the line or providing several yards of cushion and abruptly closing that gap when necessary, Mack always looks in control of the matchup. And when he gets the opportunity, he can also showcase the skills with the ball in his hands heading the other direction that make him such an impactful high school receiver and returner.
No. 2 Dominick McKinley Dominick McKinley 6'5" | 275 lbs | DL Acadiana | 2024 State LA | 6-7, 270 DL | Acadiana
The Acadiana defensive lineman has been a consistent climber up the Prep Redzone Louisiana rankings for the past year, including a big leap last summer to No. 22 and another now to No. 2 after a monster junior season which he finished with 81 tackles, including 21 for loss and 11 sacks, along with 16 hurries, three forces fumbles, one recovery and two interceptions — each with a nice return, including one long pick-six. McKinley would be the proverbial first guys off most buses around the state with his 6-foot-7, 270-pound frame, but also moves impressively well, including a listed 4.75-second 40-yard dash that flashed on the touchdown return.
His well-rounded game was as on display as ever in a district-deciding October game at crosstown rival Carencro, an eventual Division-I select semifinalist. The explosive, big-bodied athlete repeatedly blew up the Bears’ typically strong offensive line, including a game-deciding two-point conversion, and also put his mobility and hands on prime display with one of his interceptions and a touchdown catch on a fake field goal. Tulane, Louisiana (Lafayette), Texas Tech, Houston and Arkansas State all offered last summer, followed by Baylor, Miami, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Cal, Florida State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Alabama, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Colorado, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, Auburn, Mississippi State and Alabama A&M during the past few months.
No. 1 Tylen Singleton Tylen Singleton 6'1" | 210 lbs | DB Many | 2024 State LA | 6-2, 200 DB | Many
And Prep Redzone Louisiana’s new top prospect for the 2024 class is Tylen Singleton Tylen Singleton 6'1" | 210 lbs | DB Many | 2024 State LA , who climbs one more spot from No. 2 in previous updates. Whether the Many star should be categorized as a safety or linebacker as a prospect for the next level is somewhat debatable. But his talent is not. Singleton was a difference-maker as a freshman, including a game-sealing pick-six in the Tigers’ state championship game that year that earned him Outstanding Player honors. Working under the staff of the perennial Class 2A power and alongside 2023 USC signee Tackett Curtis Tackett Curtis 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Many | 2023 State LA , he continued to develop into one of the state’s most physically impressive athletes — as well as a high-character leader ready to carry the torch into the new year. Singleton has displayed notable 22.63-second 200-meter track speed that, paired with his instincts and quick reads, appears to bring his long, muscular frame into almost every play.
Singleton finished his all-state junior season with 78 tackles, including nine for loss and two sacks, and three interceptions and helped Curtis lead Many to its second title in three years with a team-high seven tackles, including a strip takeaway early in the third quarter that sparked the Tigers’ more than doubling of their lead and beginning to blow the game open. LSU, Notre Dame, TCU, USC, Oregon, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Arkansas Auburn, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Louisiana (Lafayette), ULM, South Florida and UNLV have all extended offers.
