The Permian Basin region of West Texas is filled with outstanding young football talent. Everywhere you looked, players in the Class of 2025 made a significant impact for their teams. Here are 10 2025 prospects (listed in alphabetical order) in the Permian Basin you need to know going into the highly anticipated 2023 season:

[player_tooltip player_id='445877' first='Stroman' last='Bridges'], Midland (QB): Midland has a run-dominated offense but Bridges, who appears to have the potential to develop into an elite dual threat quarterback, seems to possess the passing skills to convince the Midland coaches to throw the ball more. What we learned last season is Bridges is an elite runner, totaling 477 yards and 4 YD on 80 carries. He had two games of 100+ rushing yards. His ability to elude defenders is impressive.

Cristian Castro, Sterling City (QB): Ninety miles east of Odessa lies the small town of Sterling City (pop. 1,121 in 2020 census). There you will find one of the top young quarterbacks in West Texas. Castro turned heads last year and his Twitter feed is filled with invitations to camps, showcases and tryouts, including the Elite 11 Regional in Austin on April 16. Castro is listed at 5-foot-11, 155 pounds but don't let his size fool you. This guy can play. He's a dynamic dual threat quarterback.

Dylan Dominguez, Greenwood (RB): Odessa (TX) Greenwood is a 4A program in a region filled with prominent 6A schools. However, Dominguez enjoyed a stellar sophomore season with 540 rushing yards and 8 TD on 105 carries. Becoming a 1,000-yard rusher is a reasonable goal for Dominguez in 2023.

Diego Juarez, Kermit (OL/DL): Juarez is the definition of ‘man-child.' Even though he's a rising junior with two more years of prep football ahead of him, Juarez stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 240 pounds. He deadlifts 500 pounds, so he's incredibly strong too. He's an excellent basketball player as well. Juarez earned Honorable Mention All-District honors in 2022 following a season in which Kermit qualified for the Conference 3A, Div. 1 playoffs. By this time next year, Juarez should be a heavily recruited prospect.

Devon Rojo, Alpine (ATH): Nicknamed ‘The Heart Of Big Bend', Alpine has an elevation of 4,475 feet and is surrounded by the Davis Mountains to the north and Chisos Mountains to the south. Rojo is one of the top young players in the region, making 42 tackles, 3 TFL and 3 interceptions as a sophomore in 2022. Rojo and another Alpine rising junior, Isiah Fierro, should be the heart and soul of the Alpine defense in 2023.

Sebastian Sanchez, Permian (DE): At a program like Permian, sophomores sometimes have a difficult time breaking into the lineup. Sanchez, though, managed to earn enough playing time with the varsity in 2022 to contribute 18 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 1 sack. His trajectory is definitely upward. He could become a star in 2023.

Aidan Serrano, Midland Legacy (WR): The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Serrano was honored as the Offensive Newcomer of the Year for District 2-6A, and for good reason. He led Legacy with 53 receptions for 741 yards and 9 TD. Nearly every major recruiting service has Serrano ranked among the top 2025 prospects in Texas. Serrano and Legacy QB [player_tooltip player_id='119032' first='Marcos' last='Davila'], a Purdue commitment, should prove to be a lethal combination in 2023. With those two connecting with regularity, Legacy's ambition is to advance deep into the 6A playoffs.

Brendyn Thompson, Odessa (WR): The Bronchos had two productive sophomore wide receivers in 2022 – Thompson and Jalen Warren. When you look at Thompson's numbers, what grabs your attention is his yards per catch average (16 receptions for 331 yards = 20.7 yards per reception). Three of his catches went for touchdowns. Thompson and Warren could emerge this season as one of the top pass catching duos in West Texas.

Jorge Valdez, Odessa (RB): The Bronchos utilize a balanced offensive attack, and Valdez was third in rushing with 273 yards on just 50 carries, an impressive average of 5.5 yards per carry. Odessa's top two rushers in 2022 were seniors, so the time has come for Valdez to show if he can handle the massive responsibility of being the No. 1 RB for a 6A program.

Adolfo Valles, Andrews (WR): Andrews advanced to the second round of the Conference 4A, Div. 1 playoffs with Valles making an impact with a team-leading 22 receptions for 376 yards and 5 TD.

https://twitter.com/AidenSerrano8/status/1596365350484180997?s=20

https://twitter.com/AidenSerrano8/status/1595923454490185728?s=20

https://twitter.com/StromanBridges/status/1637913287294697472

https://twitter.com/cris6castro/status/1632070205433167872?s=20
