Montgomery Academy has a ton of young talented players right now- when it comes to their passing attack, freshman QB Landon Duckworth and 2025 WR DJ Vinson have paired up and dominated the state, especially last fall. Vinson is a really tough WR to guard. He has a great blend of size and speed, has very reliable hands, and can highpoint the ball/make tons of different contested catches as well as just fly downfield. Last fall we saw this on full display- Vinson was super productive, he made plays all over the field and totaled up 34 receptions for 738 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season. Vinson recently has picked up offers from Arkansas, Alabama State, and others- as he heads into a big junior season keep a lookout for Montgomery Academy! They’re both set for big years.
Jotavion Pierce is a super talented, dynamic safety that you can rely on to always be near the ball and never give up big gains. Pierce just has a knack for finding the ball and making plays- you can count on him to lock down pass catchers, fly around to the ball carrier, and have a big impact against the run too- he’s not afraid of doing the dirty work. Last fall, Pierce had a really productive breakout year where he posted up 26 total tackles (3 TFLs), a forced fumble and an interception. Recently, South Carolina, Auburn, Marshall, and more teams have sent Pierce offers his way- and with the kind of talent and skill he plays with- he’s sure to see more come soon!
Jeremiah Alvis is another 2025 that had a breakout year in the secondary- Helena has a serious playmaker on their hands with Alvin. Alvin has great size, excels in coverage, and plays some really physical football that tires out offenses- his size, strength, and willingness to make contact with the ball carrier really speak to the kind of effort and intensity he plays with. Alvin also has a lot of versatility, on tape he shows the ability to be able to line up at multiple different places and still make plays- overall he’s just a really well rounded player with a lot of talent that will likely progress into him becoming one of the top DBs in both the state and nation. He’s already recently received offers from Mississippi State, Penn State, Missouri among other top tier programs- and that list is only going to grow!
Highland Home just keeps putting out destructive DEs year after year- and right now, they’re loaded up in their 2025 class with both Jakaleb Faulk and CJ May lined up for them. May was simply fantastic on the defensive line for them last year- he is a huge guy that physically overpowers offensive linemen with his strength/power while also having the ability to seriously move around the field and chase after the ball carrier with his speed and acceleration. On tape, most of May’s highlights occur in just a few seconds- his ability to burst off the line and get to the ball is second to none, which led to a big statistical season for him. May totaled up 50 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 10 TFLs on the year- it was near impossible for opposing offenses to do anything against him, he’s just such a huge factor in both pass rush and rushing defense. May has picked up offers from Tennessee, South Carolina, Penn State, and more. Keep an eye on both May and Highland Home as a whole, after a fantastic 11-2 season last year they’re set up for a big season this fall!
