For those that aren’t aware the Hero Sportz Brand has tournaments set up throughout the country and top prospects from everywhere tend to participate. It was very well run organized event, what was most enjoyable was the competitive atmosphere that comes in place. Whether it was players, teams or coaches you love to see the passion on every play. I watched a number of games and had few standouts from the 17/18 year old group below:
Admittedly I heard plenty about Erby before this tournament but I had never watched him play in person. He did not disappoint, and had an excellent outing leading his AIT squad on numerous touchdown drives. These type of events are in my opinion not always the best to get a great read on what type of player one is, but when you perform like Erby did, you think otherwise.

One of the my favorite players in Virginia who we interviewed last month was of course on hand to do his thing! The Virginia Academy transfer brought his A game catching everything through his way and making defenders look silly. Representing the NOVAKings, Meade made his presence known early and helped his squad advance in the tournament. As he transitions into a new school, you can see that is adjusting to the new environment well, looking forward to watching him ball this Fall.

While a lot has been made about the Erby brothers and rightfully so, enough cannot be said about how impressive Cesar was. A dynamic speedy receiver, Cesar was a matchup nightmare all Saturday afternoon.

Editor’s note: My apologies on the twitter error he is Durrell Cesar, remember the name!

Cowan was a stud for AIT all weekend, I can see why he is one of top ranked players out of West Virginia for 2024. Very precise and accurate passer, Cowan was nearly flawless throughout the whole tournament. Expect to hear his name more this off-season as he continues to master his craft. What stood out most to me about Cowan is that it didn’t matter who he was throwing too, he was making the proper reads. His squad had kids from different parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, the fact that he was able to come in and dominate was impressive.
Really like the upside of Culmer and think his development will provide a huge upside for the 2023 season. Whether it was Erby or Kevin Atley (more on him below) this big time target went up and caught everything. There were a couple possession’s where like clockwork, if AIT needed a first down, big play or touchdown the ball was going to Culmer each play. Very good outing from this top ranked recruit, wherever he lands next fall has a lot to work with.
