All the athletes who’s tape I watched had some really good quality film. There was a lot of good football in this class, especially what was on tape for these kids. Check out the 9B Under the Radar Prospects for the Class of 2024!
Collin Tisdall Collin Tisdall 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Herreid-Selby | 2024 State SD (LB)- Herreid/Selby Area, Highlights
Tisdall is one of the best run stoppers I’ve seen on tape. Any time the gap was opening up for the back, it was opening up for him too. He met the RB in the gap nearly every time and finished with a good form tackle. I liked watching him scrape across the formation and avoid blocks to get to the ball in hurry. If he couldn’t avoid the blockers in his path, he went right through them. Keeping a low pad level when flowing to the football, he could fight off blocks and still be in position to make tackles. He also had good lateral movement to change directions and take good angles to make the tackle.
Paxton Bierema (QB/LB)- Avon, Highlights
Bierema just looks like a football player on tape. Running the ball, throwing the ball, or playing defense the kid just played ball, and did it really well. Taking snaps, he ran the read option out of the wishbone extremely well. When running the ball, he ran like a man with a purpose. That purpose, getting to the end zone. Even when wrapped up, he kept driving through the tackler and kept running. His passes had some good touch on them leading his receivers in stride. On the defensive side, he defended the pass game really well. Covering receivers and drilling the ballcarrier with a good tackle.
Brendan Nowell (DB)- Hitchcock/Tulare, Highlights
Nowell is a really good defender in the pass game. His instincts made it really easy for him to stay in position on the deep passes. I liked his pre-snap alignment, and his back pedal kept him the deepest man on the field for no big plays. Once the ball was in the air, he broke on it really quick and made the play. Having receiver-like hands made him seem like he was the intended receiver on some play. Lastly, his vertical and concentration on the ball in traffic helped him reel in those jump balls.
Carter Wright (RB/LB)- Corsica/Stickney, Highlights
Wright is a solid football player. Watching him on film defensively, he found the football on every play. He looked like he was just out there to drill the kid with the football. I liked watching him scrape to the gap and then breaking down to lay a big hit on the ballcarrier. His speed played well for him on both sides of the ball. Seemed liked he was the first one to the gap on most plays. Taking handoffs in the backfield he broke a lot of big plays. Showing his vision and agility, to break out of the pile and busting a big gain when he touched the football.
Falkenhagen could be a real potential steal for a school after his Senior Season. In one on one coverage, I’m picking him to win, on either side of the ball. His speed and route running make him really tough to run with when he’s at WR. If he gets a defender off balance on a route, there’s no catching him, before and after he has the ball. Defensively, his speed made it impossible to get away from him for the receivers. Sticking with them step-for-step on every vertical route. His awareness always kept him in good position to make plays. Lastly, he was a an excellent tackler. Breaking down, driving the shoulder into the ballcarrier and kept driving through the tackle.
