We looked at Park City, Stansbury, Hillcrest, and Murray in part one, and we’ll look at the rest of the teams that will make Region 10 a gauntlet in 2023 right here.
Cottonwood Colts
The Colts were the only team in the state who were independent in 2022. Cottonwood struggled last year, finishing 2-8, but those two wins did come against Region 10 teams. They beat Murray 41-28 and Jordan 25-24. Heading into 2023, the Colts will look to find their way in their new region. Offensively the Colts welcome back Receiver Kaelen Gray, who returns after leading the offense in receiving yards in 2022. Defensively Cottonwood returns linebackers Damien Stonehocker, who had over 85 tackles and should be in for another big season. Head coach Casey Miller will have his team ready come fall, and the Colts should be much improved in 2023.
Jordan Beetdiggers
The Beetdiggers are no doubt eager to turn things around in 2023. Jordan was stuck in Region 8, where they struggled against the difficult competition. Jordan was 2-8 on the season, but one of those wins did come against Hillcrest. Head coach Rodregis Smith and his Beetdiggers return their second-leading rusher in Noah Gatti, who flashed a season ago. Wide receiver Darrell Nichols is also back as one of the top receivers in the class of 2024. Nicholas was also a force on defenses along with Kalbe Miller, who will return after leading the team in tackles a season ago. Jordan will have the chance to get their program back on track thanks to a fresh start in Region 10.
Tooele Buffaloes
The Buffaloes shift into Region 10 after a tough 2022 season. Tooele finished the season 2-8, but the move into 4A should help them turn their program around. Running backs Seth Valencia and Bram Gustin combined for over 370 yards on the ground last year and should be a two-headed monster out of the backfield. Starting quarterback Kaden Dean returns after gaining valuable experience last season. Defensive lineman John Leakehe should be in for a big year after racking up three sacks in 2022. Head coach BJ Hunter and his Buffaloes will be ready to take on any team they face in 2023.
