This plethora of mostly 2024 prospects and one 2025 prospect show off some next-level football ceilings for sure and I believe all of these young men can take advantage of summer prospect camps and get plenty of opportunities on their radar here in the next 3-4 months. From small school prospects to 5A prospects, we unpack it all here!
Jesus Vega, WR/DB, Clarke Community (2024)
- Jesus has very intruging balance around the edges of the field with his awareness, as this kid can flip the field with his agility and vision which you will see vividly from his second rep he puts on his junior tape, as 6’2 WR prospect that has some length in his steps.
- You will not be able to question Jesus’s athletic ability, as Jesus is a creative route-runner and has the willingly in his game to do whatever he needs to do to stretch the field for his team, whether that is diving for a just out of reach ball for other wide receivers or using his vertical in double-coverage to secure the ball with his solid hands.
- The length from top to bottom that Jesus has alone needs to put him on college football radars before this summer. The level of difficulty that arises with some of the catches Jesus is able to make should certainly catch some eyes in the first minute of his tape and get him a extended amount of summer camp opportunities.
Chase Smith, QB/Specialist, North Scott (2025) Twitter
- Chase’s first look at his junior tape shows some some really well-balance precison, especially on his deep routes as he puts it right in the wheelhouse to give his WR a lead to catch and go as he completed 72% of his passes last season for North Scott with high pass/INT ratio of 11.5 TDs/INT.
- He also showed some elevated touch with every pass that flies out of his hand as you can easily read into the excellent poise that Chase shows off as just a sophomore last season, as he shows great vision going thru his progressions from my eyes could gauge. Chase is also impressive with his vision when he leaves the pocket on the run, as he’s a quarterback you know will make the smart play with his legs and not cause an OC a headache with getting berried for a big hit.
- The demeanor Chase has also carries over to his work as a specialist, as he bombed 13 touchbacks last season and from what I watched from his punts, he showed off established hangtime and even on short snap, you never see this kid flinch one bit from what I got on tape. The versatility Chase has positionally could make him a next-level in the coming years at either QB, kicker, or punter as Chase is a swiss-army knife all over the field for those next-level suitors. High GPA prospect with a 3.8.
Zach Vance, DE, Clear Creek-Amana (2024) Twitter
- Although Zach needs some development when it comes to his speed off the snap, there is no questioning the motor this kid has when in pursuit of a ball carrier as he has some good hands and leverage to pummel into the backfield with good physicality.
- At 6’0 220 pounds, Zach also shows off some competitive vision when he makes his way into the path of the backfield as Zach is a DE prospect that can cover some ground within the inner box as he finishes his reps on tape with plenty of power in his arsenal.
- I also like watching Zach with his positioning and his pursuit angles, as he’s not afraid to make an adjustment on the defensive line to give him a smoother angle to the ball. Looks like a next-level prospect to me that has a great ceiling to develop with incoming college prospect camps brewing this summer.
Eddie Becu Eddie Becu 6'0" | 260 lbs | DL Xavier | 2024 IA , DL, Cedar Rapids Xavier (2024) Twitter
- Feisty is the first word that came out of my mouth quietly when I watched Eddie’s tape from his junior season, as the moves this young man has in his plethora have some agility that is seen well in his 6’1 260 pound frame especially when he uses his mobility to get under the pads of the offensive line. Eddie also has a widening motor than can cover a much longer base with the extended motor he has.
- He is also very quick with his hands with his shedding ability, as his athleticism shows off significantly with the reps I got to watch on tape. The big skillset I see with Eddie across his tape is consistency which college recruiters will love to hear, as everything Eddie does on tape shows that off to the T.
- In my eyes, Eddie certainly has a Division I ceiling with his frame and skillsets and that should prove to be true for the college coaches once he gets on campus this summer for camp. Eddie is due as a BIG time stockriser in our next 2024 rankings update.
AJ Lawrence, WR/DB, Oskaloosa (2024)
- AJ shows off a plethora of versatility on both sides of the and I especially love his physicality he shows off not just as a tackler, but just how aggressive his ball-tracking engagement is with the wide receiver that he’s defending.
- I also like AJ’s durability thru contact as he’s a prospect that will fight for every extra yard he can get for his team and that lays up consistent whether you watch his tape as a wide receiver or a return man on special teams.
- The instincts AJ plays with at cornerback really paint a nice picture for him to play at that spot at the next level, however his position flexibility is pretty clear-cut with the wide receiver position too. Should be a prospect that will play scholarship-level football in my eyes.
Caden Schisel, RB/LB, Burlington (2024)
- I love getting a chance to watch Caden’s start to finish speed he has in his arsenal, as this from his first look of tape you don’t see his brakes at all even when he has the secondary fully beat beyond the second level of the field.
- Caden also excels with his locked-in awareness at the outside linebacker spot as he knows when to use his excellent motor to press the gas into the backfield or when to drop back in pass coverage as when watch the clips, you can see how much of disruption Caden could be for a quarterback as he shows off that high-vertical very quickly on tape. Caden also shows off clear-cut contact on every tackle he makes, as he shows off some smooth traits
- He is a lot more durable thru contact than you would see in his 6’0 185 pound measurables will tell you, as Caden isn’t going to be a prospect that might get a couple yards after contact, he’s going to the house most of the time from the multiple reps I have watched on tape. College coaches you can have your pick with this kid positionally, as he’s quite consistent across both sides of the ball.
