You can probably expect to see a 2026 wide receiver in every one of these Freshman Friday features. This week's monster wideout is Millard South's [player_tooltip player_id='487568' first='Amarion' last='Jackson'], who carved himself a nice role on the Patriot's offense as a freshman. Amarion emerged as a reliable target, hauling in 31 receptions for 491 yards and five touchdowns, despite Millard South shuffling QBs around for a little bit. Many parts of Amarion's game really stand out, namely his route-running and body control when coming down with the ball. He already looks like an advanced route runner who is explosive out of his stance and crisp when he breaks off at the top of his route. Jackson's toughness to hold on through contact and his ability to contort and twist his body to adjust to the ball allowed him to make very tough catches all season long. He's a great athlete that can elevate and win at the highest catch point. Now with a full varsity season of experience under his belt, I'm looking forward to seeing what Amarion does for an encore.

One of the top freshman teams in the state, the Blair Bears, had several players show out and gave us a lot to look forward to in the upcoming seasons. [player_tooltip player_id='487563' first='Griffin' last='Rosterman'] is a player that really impressed with his smart, physical play at linebacker. One thing that I thought Griffin did really well was his timing and explosiveness at the snap when he was asked to blitz. There were several plays in his tapes where he managed to get into the backfield untouched for a nice stop. Even when he does get caught up at the LOS, he plays with tenacity and a great motor, allowing him to still disrupt the offense in one way or another. He was also pretty versatile, lining up at inside linebacker and OLB/EDGE, excelling in both roles. Add to your radars ASAP!!

Even when losing RB [player_tooltip player_id='227026' first='Cole' last='Ballard'], the Storm RB depth still looks very deep going into next season. Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='488108' first='Jaydon' last='Sutko'] is a dark horse to watch in that backfield. Sutko had an electric freshman season in which he torched defenses left and right. What stands out to me is Jaydon's vision and lateral quickness. He does a great job seeing the field and sensing where lanes will open up and has the cutback ability to change directions on a dime. When he hits his hole, he's gone... simple as that! Jaydon can accelerate quickly and has breakaway speed once he sees the open field. Very impressive talent!

Central QB [player_tooltip player_id='487569' first='BJ' last='Newsome'] is a player I see bouncing back in a big way in year 2. Newsome and the Eagles faced the challenge of playing a tough schedule with a young team that saw several players transfer in the offseason. Nonetheless, BJ took on the challenge and delivered a promising season. Newsome threw for 864 yards on 52% completion and three touchdowns. One thing I took away from BJ's tape was that he has the ability to push the ball deep with good placement. He also showed that he could extend plays outside of the pocket with his mobility. With new coaches and an offseason to work on consistency, we could see a new BJ and Eagles offense take the field in 2023.

Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='402164' first='Quinton' last='Warren'] is an interesting prospect with great measurables and athletic ability. Quinton played QB and inside linebacker for the Warrior's freshman team. On offense, Quinton has shown to be a dual threat with his strong arm and scrambling ability. Even with his running ability, it seemed like Warren always looked to pass first and went through his progressions before deciding to tuck and run. He makes smart decisions and gets the ball out of his hands quickly when he keys on his target. He has great size for only being a freshman and will only continue to grow. His 6'2" 200-pound frame makes him tough to bring down when he runs and helps him make definitive stops on the defensive end. A very interesting prospect that could flourish in many ways in the Warrior's system.
