The Camden Conference has had a lot of good football in the 2000’s and that narrative will stay the same in the near future. I was impressed with the smaller schools having the amount of film they did. This article was an extension for the small school kids to keep up with the film during their high school careers. Check the Camden Conference’s Under the Radar Prospects in the Class of 2024.
Malaki Lee (WR/DL)- Kerkhoven/Murdock/Sunburg, Highlights
Lee just came out with tape a few days ago. I can see a lot of raw talent that has a lot of potential for his Senior Season. His defensive clips are a lot of fun to watch. Lining up and blitzing off the edge with a lot of speed makes him extremely difficult to block. Every time he gets off the edge untouched, he is wrecking a play in the backfield whether it is run or pass. He does a good job using his speed to shoot the inside gaps as well, but still being able to keep contain. Offensively, he was a good possession receiver. Running good routes to get the yardage then setting up a good target for the QB.
Brady Heiling (RB/LB)- MACCRAY, Highlights
I wrote about Heiling earlier, and his film still impresses me. On the defensive side of the ball, he flies around the field and makes tackles. Playing with a lot of physicality in the gaps, taking out blockers making his way to the ballcarrier. I really like the way he sinks his shoulder pad to get a good wrap up on the ballcarrier. He does a good job dropping into his passing zone but still keeping good position to make a play on the running QB. Offensively, he is a patient runner, waiting for blocks to develop. Once he finds the open space, he smoothly accelerates and outruns the whole defense.
Jasen Jansen Jasen Jansen 6'2" | 220 lbs | RB Renville County West | 2024 State MN (RB/LB)- Renville County West, Highlights
Jansen pads up really well to look like an old-fashioned RB in the backfield. His play looks like real smash-mouth football. Taking the handoff and keeping a low pad level until he reaches the open field. When running through the gap, he keeps his knees driving to fight through tackles. Seeing his balance and grit in the short yardage downs is a lot of fun to watch. Keeping the ball tucked away and keeping his wheels turning until he reached the end zone. Lastly, he shows a good deal of speed and agility out on the perimeter, getting to the outside and making one cut up into the outside gap.
Ethan Staab (WR/DB)- Lakeview, Highlights
Staab is another ATH that gets moved around on offense, but finds a niche in the defense. At CB, he plays his zone, or half the field really well on many routes. Staying in good position to run with vertical routes, but still be able to cover short routes. High-pointing those jump balls with ease. Also being able to slide into the box and blitz off the edge with a purpose. He shows his speed in each facet of the game. On defense when rushing the QB, running with receivers and after picking off passes. Offensively and special teams, running the football and finding open field on a hurry and making a big play.
Dylan Houseman (RB/DB)- Canby, Highlights
I have also written about Houseman once before and still enjoy watching his tape. Going into his Senior Season, he might pick up a hefty role on both sides of the ball. Despite his size, he is a really physical runner on the offensive side of the ball. Looking like a primary zone rushing attack, he does a good job being patient waiting for the gap to open up and hitting it with conviction. Using his vision to find the open space once he gets through the line of scrimmage. Lastly, he has an excellent burst of speed into the open field and breaking off a big play. He is also a big weapon on special teams as a return guy with all of his attributes.
Blake Christianson (QB)- Russell/Tyler/Ruthton
I saw Christianson at camp last summer, where he stood out before his Junior Season. He has good footwork dropping back in the pocket and rolling out on bootlegs. I like the level where he kept the ball when scrambling for a quick release on his throws. His passes had a good spiral and could squeeze them through tight windows. While he could make some good deep throws, I think his bread-and-butter was in the short, quick passing game. Getting the snap and throwing a quick and accurate pass for some high-percentage looks.
