Who are they? Let’s take a look…
Reshod Curtis Jr. – Mays
A two-way player last year for Therrell, Curtis Jr. is an impressive athlete with strong hands. Whether he’s playing receiver or defensive back, the Atlanta native his looking to make a play. He’s a vertical threat on offense who knows how to pluck the ball out or the air with ease. He has quick feet, can change directions quickly, and knows how to get open on his own. He does a great job of picking up yards after the catch and can work the sideline well. In 10 games last year, Curtis showed he was one of thee top sophomore wideouts in the area, catching 44 passes for 630 yards and 8 touchdowns. He ended the season in a big way, scoring five touchdowns in the final three games of the season. When he made a catch, he picked up big yards, averaging over 14 yards per reception last fall. He’s twitchy, a smoother runner, and showed dependable hands that should allow him to have a monster junior season in 2023. He’s a prospect to know, and if he keeps improving, could see some D1 offers come his way down the road.

The No. 42 prospect in the state for the 2025 class, Jones is an Atlanta-area receiver who continued to impress last season as a sophomore. A speedy wide receiver who can explode down the field and stretch the field, Jones can make plays in a number of different ways. He can produce in the quick passing game, on end-arounds, and has enough speed to get behind the secondary on deeper, longer routes. The former Westlake standout who will play next fall at Langston Hughes, Jones stands at 5-foot-10 180-pounds and is coming off one of the best seasons for any sophomore receiver in Atlanta, catching 44 passes for 648 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s also a weapon in the return game and at running back if that’s where he’s needed. He already holds early D1 offers from Maryland, Duke, Western Kentucky, among others. Look for him to have a gigantic season for Langston Hughes and their high-powered passing offense as a junior next fall.
Jovanni McGee- Langston Hughes
Don’t let his small stature fool you. The eAtlanta native and 6A state champion was an easy vertical threat for standout QB Air Noland last year due to his impressive quickness, burst, and straight-line speed. He may not be very big, but if you don’t use proper technique in coverage, McGee will fly right past defensive backs down the field. He’s a big-play option with enough speed to score anytime he has the ball. He’s incredibly tough to run down from behind, and he’s tough to corral in the open field. He’s a strong route-runner and tough for bigger defensive backs to stay with down the field. He’s an option in the short passing game due to his quickness and ability to pick up yards after the catch. As a sophomore last year, playing on the best offense in the state, McGee caught 42 passes for 511 yards and 9 touchdowns. He wasn’t a go-to option last year, but as a junior next fall, look for McGee to have a bigger role in the Langston Hughes offense. He currently holds offers from UAB and Middle Tennessee State.
