No matter if he is lined up on the outside or in the slot, Patterson makes plays for the Royals. A speedy Julian Edelman type, Patterson can beat you on any route pattern. What may be the most impressive about this young man is he has no fear over catching a pass over the middle. Despite being listed at 5’7 he plays with the heart of someone closer to 6’5. Patterson’s production and ranking will only rise this coming fall, good luck matching up against him and his 4.5 speed. http://www.hudl.com/v/2Jm62v
We have already talked about the Eagles very good chances they have to repeat as State Champions for 2024, but we need to talk about their 2025 kids too! Hughes is a technically sound defensive back who knows to cover, tackle and create turnovers, if anyone needs to be talked about on Freedom its this dude. Jachai makes plays as returner as well, while he brought two kickoff returns for score last year, he runs down on every kickoff like a heat seeking missile. Check out his Hudl Tape below, there is not one receiver in the state he won’t go up against. http://www.hudl.com/v/2JHZ9C
When we redo the Virginia state rankings like every state there are bound to be changes. When we update the 2025 rankings if Overton and his 43 touchdowns as a Junior are not higher than top 20, we may be doing something wrong. Much like Hughes, Overton contributing in a major way as a sophomore to Freedom’s championship run. He is a big patience running back who just needs one gap to make you pay. Overton has already received offers from Boston College, Virginia and Virginia Tech with more big time offers coming. The tradition at Freedom lives on part of that through him and his family (His uncle is their Head Coach). No reason not to believe that Freedom will be the Class 6 state title favorites for both 2023 and 2024. http://www.hudl.com/v/2K5jKb
Highlights
A north/south runner who has excellent Brian Westbrook like vision. McCarter was a key figure all season for Patriot on their way to a district semifinal appearance averaging near 6 yards per carry. With the graduation of Quentin Harrison expect the rising sophomores workload to increase exponentially. No surprise as he is a dual threat out of the backfield and is particularly effective in the Pioneers screen game. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16294645/63680d0b96811609346ff545
