If it is not clear by now, we loved the overall quarterback from every squad in attendance, however there were running backs, nickel-backs, and much more that stood out from Thursday night madness in Dinkytown. Let’s grab a glimpse of Part III.
Mason Funk, LB/DB, Steinbock Regional/Recruit Ready (2024) Twitter
Mason showed off a plethora of length as far as his coverage area on Thursday night in Dinkytown. I also love this young man’s character from top to bottom as you can tell he’s a leader on and off the field. Mason is also heavy on tape with his physicality, as when this kid gets a windup without a defender pressing him he has quite the extensive motor with his knock-back tackling ability. Mason also has significant untapped length that I feel doesn’t get the credit he deserves as he has significant length in his strides when pressing ball carriers to the edges of the field. Mason is certainly a 2024 prospect that should be on several radars in Canada and the US, especially the Dakotas schools in my eyes.
Logan Butler Logan Butler 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Hutchinson | 2024 State MN , QB, Minnesota Grind/Hutchinson (2024) Twitter
Logan showed off what looked like a slingshot with his arm strength on Thursday night in Dinkytown. I know that Logan has been working with 612Qs a bunch lately, and the strong development of his touch ball certainly showed off on the deep routes I caught on Thursday night from what I have watched since the 2022 season. He also showed off a quite efficent quick release from all three levels of the field that I witnessed. I love watching his quick decision-making on tape even on deeper routes as you can tell this kid has a great vision of where he wants to his ball placement to go with solid precision on his intermediate/deep routes. There is plenty of significant length this kid has athletically that I feel is under the radar and should be a hit with the college coaches this summer once they see it in-person at summer prospect camps.
Jacob Wrbanek Jacob Wrbanek 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Maple Grove | 2025 State MN , LB, Potenza Sports/Maple Grove (2025)
When I watch underclassmen in a scrimmage setting, I haven’t caught as many that have that “coach on the field” mentality as I have with Maple Grove 2025 linebacker Jacob Wrbanek Jacob Wrbanek 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Maple Grove | 2025 State MN which in my eyes showed full-circle on Thursday night in Dinkytown. Jacob’s strides at 6’3 are significantly long, as he has that sideline to sideline range I love watching out of the linebacker position. He has that wiggle out of his stance that is quite enticing to next-level college football suitors and one that has significantly quick instincts off the snap, yet can run his course by finishing the job on the second line of contact with his active presence no matter where the ball is on the field. This 2025 class from the Maple Grove Crimson is extremely deep when it comes to the next-level talent, and defensively in my eyes that starts with Jacob Wrbanek Jacob Wrbanek 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Maple Grove | 2025 State MN .
Tyson Schultz Tyson Schultz 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Bloomington Jefferson | 2024 State MN , QB, Minnesota Grind/Bloomington Jefferson (2024) Twitter
I got to watch Tyson a couple months ago at the My7v7 tournament at the Dundas Dome, and I have been quite impressed with the strides this young man has made with his poise n the pocket since that time as he looked significantly more comfortable making his throws with a swifter quick release. I was also intrigued with Tyson’s step up ability on Thursday night as you see it early on tape, but he shed some solid consistency with what he showed in my live evaluation from Thursday. In my eyes, Tyson is a stockriser from what I watched a couple months ago and those growing skillsets in his 6’4 frame should continue to grow nicely into summer prospect camps as the growing chemistry he has with his Bloomington Jefferson teammate Danny King Danny King 6'4" | 235 lbs | TE Bloomington Jefferson | 2024 State MN with Minnesota Grind should be a blast to watch this summer.
Jay Winters, RB, Potenza Sports/Lakeville South (2024) Twitter
Jay plays significantly bigger than you might see out of his measurables, and he showed that off on Thursday night in Dinkytown from the reps I got to watch. This young has has a ton of burst out of the snap, and shows off an elusive frame that is built to eat up some contact. If you blink, you might miss Jay on the other side of the first down marker cause his twitch is electric to watch in motion. If there is a running back prospect you go outside the measurables threshold for in Minnesota, I would certainly take a chance on Lakeville South’s Jay Winters.
