Who are some of the top players in the State of Idaho? Find out here with some early candidates for Defensive Player of the Year in the 5A Ranks:
George was an absolute monster as a junior for the Rams, posting 96 tackles, and 5 tackles for loss with 1 interception this season. A player that can really make an impact from anywhere on the field with his game breaking speed and nose for the football. George has a unique blend of size and speed that allows him to really impact the game defensively. Rangey with the ability to play sideline to sideline, he is also strong at the point of contact allowing him to set the edge as an outside linebacker. He has elite bend to be able to blitz off the edge and good timing that allows him to make plays in the backfield constantly. Where his next step is going to be in his pass coverage as he has the ability to run with tight end and slot receivers. Look for George to have over 100+ tackles this season and is a serious candidate for Defensive Player of the Year!

Robertson is another elite linebacker in the state of Idaho who posted huge numbers as a junior. With 89 tackles and 6 tackles for loss as a middle linebacker for Coeur d’Alene. The now senior linebacker is a true thumper with the ability to deliver bone crushing hits at anytime during the football game. Where he excels is in his ability to read and react from the mike linebacker position. He shows the ability to diagnose run schemes quickly, avoid on coming down blocks and slip pullers with ease. His strength in the lower half jumps out on film as he is rarely knocked back during a play and his ability to bench press offensive players away from him is impressive. He has a very high ceiling and should have another huge year for the Vikings.

Highlights
Brock was an absolute star for the Eagle Mustangs this season making up the best pass rush in the state of Idaho. The junior was posted 17 sacks, to go along with 68 Tackles this season. Rated as a 3 star recruit by many recruiting agencies the junior is having a heck of an off season with an offer from the University of Idaho already. He is a long defender with the ability to convert speed to power in his pass rush. His long arms allow him to create seperation for offensive lineman and his elite ability to bend really gives him an edge in pass rush. He has a very quick get off that allows him to beat offensive tackles out of their stance and uses his hands well to shed pass blocking. He has a variety of moves that he is mastering in his pass rush but where he doesn’t get enough credit is how physical he plays at the point of attack. Brock can really set the edge and even shows up on film kicking inside to play some defensive tackle. Look for Brock on continue his sky rocket of an off season and have a huge senior year.

DeGraw is a massive frame as an edge defender standing at 6’6” and weighing 230 lbs. DeGraw might be on of the most physical defenders we have seen on film. With his lower body strength he is your premier edge setter for a defense. Constantly able to stand up offensive lineman and continue that into knock back that allows him to play behind the line of scrimmage. DeGraw also plays with a high motor and doesn’t take plays off which is something that not everyone can say. He has good speed that allows him to track down players on the edge and really gives him an edge in pass rush. Where DeGraw excels is in his technique, really uses his hands well to separate and gets good extension in his arms when taking on blockers. Already has an offer from Weber State, DeGraw is going to explode after this offseason and camp season. Look for him to be one of the premier players in the entire state and a definite candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.
