We will continue our series today with Mississippi State, who signed so many in-state kids, that we will have to break their class into multiple parts. Let’s continue with the incoming Bulldogs on the defensive front.
Caleb Bryant Caleb Bryant 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Vicksburg | 2023 State MS – Vicksburg
The Bulldogs return depth on the defensive front which will be good for the long-term growth of a guy like Bryant. The former Vicksburg Gator was a long time lean towards Mississippi State and will look to maintain the quality brand of play that has become associated with the Bulldogs. Bryant will be an interesting underclassman to watch and see where he lands position wise along the line.
Joseph Head Joseph Head 6'4" | 205 lbs | DL Holmes County | 2023 State MS – Holmes County Central
Holmes County is a hotbed of talent and the 2023 cycle lived up to expectation. Head had been committed to the Bulldogs for nearly a calendar year before signing in the December period. Quality length pops off the tape of Head with expected production to be as an edge rusher. Violent hands make him a problem to deal with in addition to above average burst off the ball. As Head matures, look for him to be a quality pass rusher in the SEC.
Gabriel Moore Gabriel Moore 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Louisville | 2023 State MS – Louisville
The Louisville, MS native blew up late in his senior season and as a result signed in the early period with his local Bulldogs. Moore checks in close to 6″4 with great length and frame. Moore shows quality range of motion and burst off the snap and controls his frame with ease and became a game wrecker against intense 4A competition in MS. Moore is a sleeper name to watch that could contribute early in the process for MSU.
Jonathan Davis – Lawrence County
It is a complete mystery how Davis recruitment stayed so quiet thru his senior season, but post early signing period his phone rang off the hook. The Bulldogs secured the signature of a true inside technique lineman for their interior defensive line in Davis. With impressive athleticism, given his size, Davis plays with a motor that is fully charged. This will be a late signee that Zach Arnett and company will look back on down the road with a big smile on their face.
