<p>Texas has for decades been a hot bed on the recruiting trail for colleges looking for the missing piece in the backfield at running back. Running backs have to be able to move the chains, make big plays in the running game, block in pass protection and they are weapons in the passing game. Here are several backs in the Class of 2024 that fit that mold.</p>

Payne has superb hands, with the skill set to run crisp routes, which makes him an all-purpose back who can beat you in all phases of the game. In 2022, Payne ran for 1,326 yards and 19 touchdowns.
