With some schools beginning to reach out to some of the upcoming stars in the game, it’s important to know about kids that are about to break the internet. The Class of 2027 is loaded with TONS of undiscovered talent around the country and here are some athletes that you need to know about now.
Luke Waldrop Luke Waldrop 5’11” | 150 lbs | LB AL is one of those kids who checks all of the boxes on defense. The Yellowhammer State product measure to be around 5’11 and 155 pounds and carries it well on the gridiron. At linebacker, one of Luke’s strong suits is his lateral speed. Whenever he sees a bubble screen or an outside run play, Luke moves laterally with high speed and has no problem making the play after that. Luke also does a phenomenal job blitzing and distructing blocks. From what I have seen, he excels in putting a move on offensive linemen as he works his way into the backfield. After that, he lets his speed do the rest of the work as he moves to put pressure on the quarterback. Lastly, Luke is a sure tackler who has the determination to make plays on the ball carrier no matter where he is at on the field. He was an All-Metro selection this season and with his high potential, I am excited to see how his career develops from here.
Amos Augustine Amos Augustine 6’1″ | 165 lbs | WR AZ is a stud wideout coming out of the class of 2027. Hailing from the Grand Canyon State of Arizona, Amos measures to be about 5’10 and 150 pounds. Everything that I have seen from Amos shows that he is going to be an absolute force at the next level. Amos runs smooth routes with incredible precision. With his route running, he often runs himself into open windows and creates easy throws for his quarterback to complete. Another thing that really excites me about Amos is his explosiveness. With his ability to get off the ground when he is thrown an jump ball is incredibly impressive. Amos has proven to be a nightmare for defenses so far. If he continues to follow this trajectory, Amos may make himself one of the better wideouts in Arizona.
Elija Harmon Elija Harmon 6’3″ | 280 lbs | DL Inglewood | 2027 State CA is a big-time shutdown defensive lineman out of the class of 2027. Coming out of the Golden State, Elija is already standing over 6 feet tall, and weighing over 250 pounds. With his pure size and strength, Elijah looks to be the part when he is on the field. From what I have seen of the IB Braves 13U athelte, Elija is an absolute force. With his ability to break through the offensive line with ease, Elija consistently shutdown plays before they even start. With Elija being such a big dude, he can use his strength to move people around and tackle ball carriers without much effort. Another thing that really jumped out to me is that Elija is very athletic. He is capable of changing direction quicker than most other athletes of his size. Like everything else, his athleticism makes it very difficult for anyone to stop Elija. Having said all of this, I believe that Elija is one of the better defensive linemen in this 2027 class. It won’t be long until Harmon makes a name for himself on the big stage down the road.
Highlights
Lorontae is another wideout who has started making some noise that the national level. Coming out of Riviera Beach, Fla., Lorontae is a shifty 5’10 and 155 pounds. He is already being recognized as one of the best wideouts in the class of 2027 with his UA Next Game selection back in January. With him being one of the faster wideouts that I have evaluated, Lorontae is a smooth runner who can blow the top off of any coverage. A big play threat, he has proven that he can generate big plays through deep routes or in quick game. Most importantly, Lorontae has natural ball skills. So no matter where the ball is thrown, Lorontae is going to find a way to win the reception and keep moving the ball downfield. From what I have seen, Lorontae is going to be a huge prospect in the coming years. I would not be surprised to see him rack up some big time accolades in the process.
Alex Ward Alex Ward 6’1″ | 155 lbs | WR Carrollton | 2027 GA is another shifty wideout that you need to know about. Coming out of the Peach State, Alex stands at a long 6-foot-1. On film, Alex is one of the more athletic-looking kids on the field at all times. With his route running skills, Alex gets in and out of breaks seamlessly and makes it impossible for anyone to cover him. The 2027 prospect transferred from McEacheo Carrollton ahead of this past fall is also a chore to try and bring down when he has the ball in his hands. With his shifty and elusive nature, Alex can break multiple ankles as he improvises a way to make it to the endzone. With his speed, if you allow Alex to work around you, you are going to be chasing him as he finds pay dirt. From everything that I have seen from Alex, it is only going to be a matter of time before recruiting starts to pick up. Alex has a very bright future and I am excited to see how it all works out for him.
Chase Arnold Chase Arnold 6’0″ | 195 lbs | DL Orchard Lake St. Mary’s | 2027 State MI is another defensive lineman with some potential to know about. Coming out of the Great Lake State, Chase stands over 6 feet tall and is a big 195 pounds. Chase might be one of the twitchiest defensive linemen that I have seen out of this class. With his burst off the ball, Chase has no problem rushing the quarterback and racking up sacks. With Chase’s athleticism, he has no problem changing direction to make a play on the ball when he needs to. Another thing that impresses me about the Southfield Falcons 13U standout is that his vision into the backfield helps him adjust to what is going on so that he can get to the ball carrier as soon as possible. From everything that I have seen, Chase has proven to be a defensive end with some ability. If he continues to follow his trajectory, he could become a 2027 Michigan prospect a lot of people will want.
DeVeion Bickham DeVeion Bickham 6’2″ | 170 lbs | ATH McAlester | 2027 OK is another two-sport athlete that everyone should get to know right now. Depending on who you ask, Bickham is either a big time basketball prospect or football prospect, oming out of the Sooner State. We vote he’s both. When it comes to the gridiron, DeVeion is a big 6’2 receiver with big play capability. His big frame helps make Bickham an absolute force on the field. With his size, he is also sneaky fast and has no problem creating big plays on his own. With his speed, Bickham is also a shifty dude who can make make people miss with the ball in his hands, or find open windows in coverage if he is running routes. From everything that I have seen from DeVein, it is clear that he has a huge upside in the game of football. It’s going to be exciting to watch him grow in both sports and develop into one of the state’s top prospects.
