With some strong performances, several prospects put themselves on the radar, making a name for themselves. Here are some of the top WR performers from the PRZ Georgia Showcase.
Taz Smith – 2024 – Johns Creek
From the beginning to the end, Smith was one of the most prolific and consistent performers at the event, regardless of position. For a smaller receiver at 5’10 154 pounds, Smith tested very well jumping nearly 10 feet on the broad jump. His distance was the best out of all the WRs at the event. As the afternoon went on, Smith showed some excellent footwork and shiftiness. Those two attributes marry together nicely and allow Smith to create separation, which he did all night. As you could expect, Smith is a gifted athlete with outstanding leaping ability and the ability to contour his body in numerous ways. He offers QBs a large catch radius, which made him one of the more reliable targets throughout the afternoon.
Hunter Green Hunter Green 6'2" | 230 lbs | TE West Forsyth | 2025 GA – 2025 – West Forsyth
At 6’1 230, Green plays his high school ball at the FB position. As you could imagine, you don’t typically get a whole lot of opportunities to prove yourself in the downfield passing game as a fullback. However, Green did exactly that during the showcase and walked away as an MVP. Green impressed for a bigger guy during testing by running a sub 5.0 in the 40-yard dash, which proved to be more than enough to hold his own athletically against the fasted DBs. Where Green really shined was by using his body to shield off smaller defenders from having a chance on the ball. This not only shows great body control, but also shows a fantastic feel for the game and understanding of your role as a player.
DJ Avery– 2025 – Chattahoochee
Avery passed the eye test more than any other WR at the event, coming in at 6’1 173 with long arms and legs. He went on to validate a lot of the hype by running a 4.6 40 and jumping 9’6 in the broad jump. Oftentimes with younger WRs that are still filling out a long frame, they can be pretty awkward and lack body control. Not Avrey, who was extremely consistent and played under control all afternoon. For a skinnier wideout, I was impressed with Avery’s ability to fight through contact and come down with the ball. He possesses strong and sticky hands, allowing himself to stick the ball out of the air and come down with the football.,
Cole Cato Cole Cato 6'3" West Forsyth | 2025 GA – 2025 – West Forsyth
Cato was yet another West Forsyth big man that was in attendance and showed out. Cato measured in at a very tall and lanky 6’5 179 pound build, making him one of the more intriguing prospects in attendance, at least physically. He has a lot of room to grow and fill out. As it looks right now, he could project out at TE. Regardless, I was very impressed with his body control and fluidity for a prospect at an awkward stage of development. There were multiple times when I came away surprised with his explosiveness, leaving DBs in the dust while maintaining outstanding body control.
