But that scenario is never all that likely. Be it due to a lack of time or getting stopped on third down, there is always a need for kickers to coolly convert their attempts. Today, we are going to look at some of the state’s best kickers heading into the 2023 season.

Right-footed kicker Keifer Sanderson Keifer Sanderson 5'10" | 165 lbs | K F.J. Reitz Evansville | 2024 State IN is a kicker who be a huge asset on both kickoffs and placekicking. Sanderson, soon to be a junior at Evansville Reitz, handles most kickoff duties and some placekicking duties as well. When attempting field goals, Sanderson has shown a level of comfort kicking from either hash. That makes decision-making easier as it pertains to setting up for a big field goal. Sanderson’ kickoff abilities can help the team’s cause when it comes to flipping field position. Last year, Sanderson kicked-off 45 times with an average of slightly under 43 yards per kick.

No matter the prospect or the position, versatility is always needed. The ability to do multiple things well will get you on the field faster at the next level. Luke Munoz Luke Munoz 5'8" | 145 lbs | K Covenant Christian | 2024 State IN is a prospect who contributes in multiple ways. He is a solid wide receiver and kicker. In the kicking-game, Munoz handles kickoffs, punts and extra points. A season ago, Munoz averaged over 48 yards per kick on 80 kicks. He was 50/60 on extra points, and he punted 26 times for 267 net punt yards. Munoz placed one punt last season inside the 20-yard line. Offensively, Munoz is a solid option to pick up chunk yards. He caught 20 passes last year for 427 receiving yards with three touchdown receptions. Munoz makes an impact defensively, as well. He consistently gets to the ball and frequently takes the ball away. He recorded 45 total tackles in 2022 with 21 of those being solo. He notched three-and-a-half tackles-for-loss as a junior. Munoz snatched four interceptions, and he tallied half-a-dozen passes defensed.

Right-footer Levi Dewey Levi Dewey 5'9" | 160 lbs | K Triton Central | 2024 State IN has the strong leg that coaches want to see out of kickers. Dewey handles both kickoff and placekicking duties. When attempting field goals, Dewey is solid from 40+ yards out. Last year, Dewey connected on 10 of his 12 field goal attempts with a 57-yarder being his longest of the season. Dewey split the uprights on 33 of 37 extra points. Dewey kicked-off 61 times with six punts.

Breaking from the trend, we have the first left-footer on this list. Norwell’s Austin Deleon Austin Deleon 5'8" | 155 lbs | K Norwell | 2024 State IN is accurate and efficient with his placekicking duties. A season ago, DeLeon was successful on 61 of his 65 extra point attempts. He netted seven field goals in 2022. DeLeon kicked-off on 87 occasions. Crucially, 55 of those kicks went for touchbacks. He averaged nearly 57 yards per kickoff.

One season down in high school for Van Krisiloff Van Krisiloff 6'0" | 160 lbs | K Cathedral | 2026 State IN , and based on his freshman form, there is plenty to look forward to in the years ahead. Krisiloff has gained experience kicking on varsity. Last year, he converted on four of his five field goal attempts, and he was a perfect 9/9 on PATs. Krisiloff’s impact has not gone unnoticed. He was named Cathedral’s Special Teams Player of the Week for their game against Lawrence Central. In that game, Krisiloff connected on all three extra points attempts and both of his field goal tries.
