<p>From dominating as a youngster while still learning the game, to a standout senior season for Waverly-Shell Rock, it is no wonder his services were highly-sought after by many college coaches.</p>

<p>Newsom, though, was just one of many standouts from Class 4A that called the linebacker position home.</p>

<p><strong>First Team - [player_tooltip player_id='152913' first='Asa' last='Newsom'] - Waverly-Shell Rock Senior</strong></p>

<p>For the duration of his high school career, when [player_tooltip player_id='152913' first='Asa' last='Newsom'] was on the field, he was the best athlete out there - period. Newsom finished this past season with 66 tackles, six for loss, three sacks and had 50 solo stops among those. He also had a fumble recovery while returning kickoffs where he averaged 28.5 yards per touch and had a score. </p>

<p>On offense, Newsom carried the ball 44 times for 679 yards and nine scores, averaging 15 yards per rush, while catching 24 passes for 392 and two scores, an average of 16 yards per catch. </p>

<p><strong>Second Team - Jes Krcil - Carlisle - Senior</strong></p>

<p>If the Carlisle defense needed a tackle, it was likely Jes Krcil was involved in the play. The senior led all of Class 4A with 110 total tackles, with 92 of those being considered solo stops. He also had 15.5 tackles for loss and finished with 7.5 quarterback sacks. </p>

<p>When he wasn't wreaking havoc on opposing offenses, he was dominating with his skills on offense, rushing for 1,538 yards and 21 touchdowns with four receptions for 40 yards. He also had a fumble returning for a score.</p>

<p><strong>Third Team - [player_tooltip player_id='247894' first='Thomas' last='Sundell'] - Cedar Rapids Xavier - Senior</strong></p>

<p>Right behind Jes Krcil of Carlisle on the tackle list for Class 4A was Cedar Rapids Xavier's [player_tooltip player_id='247894' first='Thomas' last='Sundell'], as he finished with 99.5 stops. The senior had 71 solo tackles, 18 tackles for loss and four sacks while helping the Saints to another memorable season. </p>

<p>Sundell also picked off a pair of passes, returning one for a touchdown.</p>

<p>The likes of [player_tooltip player_id='247895' first='Payton' last='Ludington'] of Lewis Central, Seth Madden from North Scott, Nathan Milburn of Newton, [player_tooltip player_id='320777' first='Dayne' last='Mauk'] of Dallas Center-Grimes and [player_tooltip player_id='152902' first='John' last='Powers'] of Bondurant-Farrar were very difficult to keep off this list. </p>
