When I got the chance to go to the offensive showcase in St. Paul, I knew I had to jump on the opportunity. I got the chance to evaluate over 30 QBs from all levels of play. After the showcase, I’m proud to present the best performers.
Alex Netzke Alex Netzke 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Eden Prairie | 2026 MN : Byron 2026 6’1″ 185 lbs
We may still be a year out from what I will be calling the Netzke takeover, but I want to make it known that I called it first. The freshman looked physically on par with some of the collegiate QBs throwing on Saturday. He made consistent throws that showcased varsity starter-level arm talent all day. He was calm and collected in the pocket, took coaching well, and overall looked head and shoulders above all the other underclassmen there. Netzke is a name you should look out for over the next couple of years.
Caden Wick Caden Wick 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Prior Lake | 2024 MN : Prior Lake 2024 6′ 190 lbs
I shouted out Caden Wick Caden Wick 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Prior Lake | 2024 MN in my top 2024 QBs to watch for next season, and I stand by that take. He maintains great composure while in the pocket and does a great job of hitting WRs right as they break on their routes. He has the arm strength to hit deep and intermediate routes, and he does so with great precision. Wick is ready for big things and I’m excited to see him on Friday nights.
Cole Gerrell Cole Gerrell 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Forest Lake | 2024 MN : Forest Lake 2024 6′ 180 lbs
Unfortunately, he was unable to play varsity his junior season due to transfer rules, but make no mistake, Gerrell is going to be a threat next season. He’s perfectly comfortable with throwing on the run and is more than capable of completing tough passes off of his back foot. He puts good touch on the ball and should be a key piece of Forest Lake’s success next season.
Kane Donnelly: Somerset Wisconsin 2025 6’2″ 180 lbs
I heavily debated putting Donnelly on this list since Wisconsin isn’t really my jurisdiction, but if you can play you can play, and Donnelly can play. The lanky gunslinger was even named one of the “Camp Standouts” by the coaches and for good reason. Donnelly dropped dimes into the breadbaskets of WRs all afternoon. He has an elegant throwing motion and showed off some solid mobility in the play-action drills. As a sophomore he earned an all-conference honorable mention as a QB, I expect a big junior year from him.
Chase Pemberton: Andover 2024 6’3″ 185 lbs
The hype I’ve heard around Pemberton over the last few months has been insane. I’m pleased to announce it’s very warranted. He delivered pinpoint accuracy across drills all day and was able to hit WRs running a variety of routes perfectly. He showcases solid footwork in the pocket and seems exceptionally calm when the ball is in his hands. If I could bank on anyone having a massive breakout season, it’d be Pemberton.
Logan Butler Logan Butler 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Hutchinson | 2024 State MN : Hutchinson 2024 6’4″ 185 lbs
Butler drew looks from all the coaches I talked to at the showcase. It’s easy to see why. The Hutchinson product already boasts a college-ready frame and showed off his comfortability in the pocket throughout the whole camp. He threw the ball on a rope and had no problem hitting back-shoulder passes that other QBs struggle with. Butler is a prospect with a massive upside.
Andy Simonsen: Minnetonka 2024 6’2″ 165 lbs
Simonsen was a near-unknown prospect to me prior to this camp, but that changed quite fast. Simonsen made some elite throws early on, placing beautiful passes where only a WR could get them. He was also incredibly consistent, rarely missing passes and always hitting the WRs in the numbers, or leading them just enough. I hope I can get a better look at him during the season.
Austin Randall Austin Randall 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Waconia | 2024 State MN : Waconia 2024 6′ 170 lbs
Randall has improved so rapidly over the past few months that it amazes me. You can see that his confidence has grown exponentially in the pocket. One of my favorite things about him is his funky and lightning-quick release. The ball shoots out of his hands like a missile, and with the way his arm can maneuver, it’s clear he has baseball experience. Randall has been one of my favorite prospects to watch evolve and I’m excited to see what he can do next season.
Garett Sperber: Pine Island 2024 5’7″ 165 lbs
I had the pleasure of getting lost on the way to the facility and meeting Sperber a little bit early. During the camp, he showed off arm talent that’s uncommon for shorter QBs, as well as some crazy accuracy on deep routes. He showed off a ton of success throwing seams and fades and does a great job of hitting WRs outside of the hashes. I may have to take a trip out to Pine Island MN next season to watch this kid ball out.
Tyson Schultz Tyson Schultz 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Bloomington Jefferson | 2024 State MN : Bloomington Jefferson 2024 6’4″ 185 lbs
Schultz is another prospect with a lot of hype surrounding his senior season. The Jefferson prospect towers over the competition and has some serious arm strength. He launched passes all over the field, each one with some thump behind it. As he settled into the camp he got much better, his accuracy improved in play action drills, and he showed out at the end competition. Schultz is definitely on the shortlist of QBs to watch next year.
Cole Hentges Cole Hentges 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Sartell-St. Stephen | 2023 State MN : Sartel 2023 (UMary Commit) 6′ 200 lbs
I have been on the Cole Hentges Cole Hentges 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Sartell-St. Stephen | 2023 State MN hype train for a little over a year now, and he’s done nothing but prove me right time and time again. Hentges was easily the top performer at the camp, and it wasn’t even close. He displayed the best throw power at the camp early on, and showcase pinpoint accuracy through all the drills. I even caught him coaching up the younger athletes between reps. A driven competitor and a great leader, U Mary got a good one in Hentges.
Dylan Blount Dylan Blount 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB St Clair | 2024 MN : St. Clair 2024 6’1″ 180 lbs
Blount caught my eye towards the end of the camp and I’m glad he did. The St. Clair gunslinger showed off some great consistency, especially during the competition part of the afternoon. He was comfortable hitting a wide variety of routes and showed no issues with ball placement or arm strength. He had great connections with all of the wideouts and I look forward to his senior campaign.
