He is incredible speed, clocking a 4.47 at the Colorado Stock Up Showcase, and he did it in his pajamas. His shifty releases, sharp cuts, and impeccable catching abilities are so in tune that they almost appear effortless. Izaiah Trujillo
Trujillo is a standout player with all the makings of a top-tier receiver who can fill the role of a genuine deep threat. His strength and competitiveness give him a big presence, making him the go-to option in one-on-one situations. He does an excellent job securing acrobatic catches and coming down with the ball, even when heavily contested. His speed allows him to run past coverages during his route and away from defenders after the catch. Trujillo is a player with significant potential, making him one to add to the top of the early recruiting list.
Mervin is a do-all athlete with the skills to fill multiple roles on offense, defense, and special teams. He is a speedy route runner and does a fantastic job locating and high-pointing the ball. When making catches, he makes sure to finish the play away from the defender to come down with the ball. Mervin is an exciting player to watch, and with the sophomore season he had, his junior season is sure to be even more impressive.
If there is one player on this list who is most likely to end up in the sleeper category, it’s Wilkes. His size and frame make him a standout off the field, but his playmaking abilities make him a spotlight stealer when on the field. He is a strong route runner with great bursts of speed and the right amount of toughness to go up and snag the ball while coming across the middle. His hands are incredibly reliable, and his athleticism allows him to make spectacular catches. Wilkes has the potential of quietly having one of the better junior seasons in the state, making him a player to watch early.
Highlights
Out of every player mentioned on this list, Walker is the more under-the-radar receiver due to having to bide time behind one of the more dynamic receiving cores in the state. With those players graduating, he has the opportunity to step to the line and put on a show. He runs crisp routes, has breakaway speed, and can make spectacular catches thanks to his athleticism and concentration. With Walker being a radar low-flyer, he is poised to have one of the more impressive breakout seasons this fall.
