With offseason work picking up for the players returning for another high school season in the fall, now is the perfect time to note some of the top players to watch.
This article will list nine quarterbacks from the class of 2024 while looking closely at five who will be entering their senior seasons as some of the top shot-callers in the state.
Barnett remains one of the best overall athletes in the state, and he has the offers to back it up. The duel-threat quarterback added defensive back to his resume after logging valuable reps as a safety during his junior season, proving that he is a definite difference-maker wherever he lines up on the field. After a rocky start, Barnett was able to flip the switch during the latter half of the season and revert to what made him so unstoppable during his freshman and sophomore years. Barnett’s postseason performance was one of the best by any single player during the entire season, making him one to watch during his senior year.

Madden’s junior season gave the state an eye-opening introduction to one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the class. He is a pro-style quarterback who possesses the athleticism needed to be mobile enough to extend plays in the backfield or pick up yards with his legs. His arm strength and ability to read the field allow him to thread the needle and hit his target through tight windows within the defense’s coverage. Madden is perhaps one of the better well-rounded quarterbacks in the class who should be seeing an uptick in his recruiting stock this year.
Weiner’s junior season was impressive, showing his size, strength, and abilities as a runner. The 6-foot-5 quarterback has an absolute cannon for an arm that would make him an excellent option for an offense that leans toward the Run-and-Shoot or Spread schemes with some RPO concepts. Being in an offense that relies heavily upon the run has showcased his abilities to be a game manager with an unwavering amount of toughness. Weiner’s senior season will be an interesting one to keep tabs on as he works to add more offers to his impressive list.
Daugaard is another player whose junior season helped him break out from the crowd and emerge as a prospect worth knowing. He is another exceptionally well-rounded quarterback with a very impressive set of skills. Two of the more significant things that make him stand out as a passer are his ability to go through his progressions and his quick releases. He has the arm strength needed to hit just about any throw, and his accuracy is on point. Daugaard is an outstanding quarterback with a lot of upside as a college prospect.
Risner’s junior season was an impressive debut for him as a varsity starter. He has phenomenal instincts and one of the stronger arms in the class, making him capable of hitting just about any throw with pure arm strength alone. His ability to remain calm and collected when things break down is another outstanding characteristic that makes him a standout player. Now that he has a year as the varsity starter under his belt, his senior season will be one to keep a close eye on as he continues to prove himself as a legitimate prospect.
