We have released the FIRST 2025 rankings and one thing is abundantly clear – there is an abundance of young high school football talent in New Mexico. Most of the prospects in our initial ranking have already made a significant impact on their respective teams, and they still have two more years to cement their legacy. Here are the Top 10 2025 prospects in Northern New Mexico:

C.J. Perea, West Las Vegas: Perea won't just be the top 2025 quarterback in northern New Mexico next season, he'll be the best regardless of classification. Perea has already thrown for close to 4,300 yards and 45 TD in his first two years. His quest now is to win a Class 3A title for the Dons. They have plenty of talent returning in 2023.

Jesse James Gonzales, Robertson: Just like Perea, Gonzalez has been a baller since the beginning of his freshman season. In 2021, he rushed for 808 yards and 7 TD as a freshman to help spark Robertson to the 3A title. In 2022, he had 768 rushing yards and 8 TDm, giving him 1,576 rushing yards before his junior season. The Robertson-WLV rivalry game could be FUN in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='611107' first='Michael' last='Beck'], Farmington: Only 10 receivers in the state surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in 2022, and the underrated Beck was one of them. He finished his sophomore campaign with 48 receptions for 1,005 yards and 13 TD. Scorpions QB [player_tooltip player_id='274791' first='Trel' last='Griego'] is back ion 2023 as well, so we'll get one more season of the Griego-Beck combination. It'll be fun.

Connor Ebell, Robertson: After seeing limited playing time as a freshman in 2021, Ebell earned a starting job on the Cardinals defense this past season and finished with 74 tackles, 4 sacks and 2 int.

[player_tooltip player_id='615693' first='Marcelo' last='Baeza'], Escalante: Baeza was one of the leaders of the Escalante defense, finishing with 53 tackles and 3 INT during the regular season. His production helped Escalante earn a berth in the Class 2A playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='611120' first='Juan' last='Munoz'], Capital: Munoz was one of the Jaguars' rushing leaders in their debut season in Class 6A, rushing for over 600 yards and 10 TD. Capital will look to gain from their experience in 2022 and earn a spot in the 6A playoffs in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='613133' first='Joseph' last='Sanchez'], St. Michael's: Sanchez earned Second Team All-State honors as an offensive lineman by paving the way for the Horsemen's stellar running game with RB [player_tooltip player_id='542877' first='Marcus' last='Leyba'] and others. St. Michael's reached the Class 3A state championship game for the second straight season and looks to return in 2023.

Jedwick Jozwiak, Taos: Taos enjoyed a remarkable season in 2022, winning 10 straight games before being eliminated from the 4A playoffs by Bloomfield in the semifinals. The 6-foot-3 Jozwiak was one of the sparkplugs on the Tigers defense with 30 tackles, 2 TFL and 4 QB hurries from his defensive end position.

[player_tooltip player_id='615662' first='Ethan' last='Tafoya'], West Las Vegas: Tafoya was a major contributor on both sides of the ball for the Dons. He rushed for 405 yards and 6 TD on offense and made 34 tackles on defense. He's one of WLV's key returners in 2023 and a reason why the Dons are optimistic they can make a title run.

[player_tooltip player_id='615619' first='Eli' last='Snell-Martinez'], Bloomfield: Several underclassmen had prominent roles during the Bobcats' run to the Class 4A state championship, including Snell-Martinez. His biggest contribution came on defense as he made 43 tackles with 3 QB hurries and 1 fumble recovery.
