Here are some Lowcountry seniors that raised their recruiting stock on the field this weekend.
Jakhi Pusha
Jakhi Pusha
A versatile star for the Whale Branch Warriors, Jakhi Pusha showed why he was so dangerous as a receiver and in the open space on offense throughout his career. Pusha beat a defender one-on-one for a reception near the left sideline in the first half, showing his excellent quickness and reactionary ability to adjust to the throw and beat the corner to the ball. His pure athleticism, reliability, and clutch factor as a wideout made him a key factor for Whale Branch’s team over his high school tenure.
Jamar Knight
Jamar Knight
Earning the opportunity after starring on Beaufort High’s state-championship winning defense, Jamar Knight displayed his exceptional hustle and coverage abilities for Team Lowcountry on Saturday. Alongside his brother Lamar Knight who also became a standout for the Eagle defense, Jamar was noticeable with his quickness and his intelligence to be in the right spot to break up or disrupt a pass. His defensive effort was enormous to help the Lowcountry team stay in the ballgame in the first half.
Thomas Raisch
Thomas Raisch
A highly underrated piece of May River’s defense over the past year with the Sharks, Thomas Raisch closed his high school career with an excellent performance at linebacker in Savannah. Raisch came through with several key stops against a strong Coastal Empire rushing attack and proved his high-level vision and tackling skills on the field. He wrapped up an impressive 100 tackles over his senior season with the Sharks while adding an interception. His abilities to shut down the run and produce in pass coverage will be missed in 2023.
There was no surprise to see JaQuinn Willams showing out on Saturday afternoon. The Bluffton linebacker showed a little bit of everything for team Lowcountry, plowing into the backfield for a key sack while showing a relentless pursuit in both run defense and pass coverage. Williams is a strong, quick, and explosive linebacker at the line of scrimmage and in the backfield and continued his upward-rising stock to cap off a very strong senior season.
Anthony Phelan
Anthony Phelan
He wasn’t on many radars before this game, but Battery Creek’s Anthony Phelan used this game as his own opportunity to get noticed. And he made the most of it. Phelan’s exceptional effort on the line was critical to helping the Lowcountry get some stops in the opening half. Playing under head coach Terrance Ashe who also leads his Battery Creek Dolphins, Phelan went all in and played a determined and inspired game of football to wrap up his high school career. His hard work helped earn him an outstanding final impression in his last chance to make a statement.
