With offseason work picking up for the players returning for another high school season in the fall, now is the perfect time to note some of the top players to watch.
This article will list five freshmen from the class of 2026 who are must-adds to the radar.
Braylon Toliver
Braylon Toliver
Toliver had a fantastic debut in his high school career, completing his first season as a significant role player on a team that reached the semifinals. He is a two-way player who started as a safety while logging reps as a running back whenever the Tigers had a comfortable lead in the second half. His explosiveness, athleticism, and willingness to initiate contact made him the perfect fit for a position charged with defending against the pass while offering run support. Coming in as a freshman and starting as a box safety for a top-ranked 4A team is no easy task, but Toliver accomplished it in an impressive fashion.
Symalla is an exciting player to watch who had an outstanding debut season as the leading rusher for the Wildcats. He has excellent vision, pairing perfectly with his explosive acceleration and breakaway speed. His low pad level and ability to keep his legs churning make him a difficult player to bring down, resulting in him gaining yards after contact consistently. Symalla has garnered onlookers who are impressed with the skills that he brings to the field, making him a must-know young player.
Highlights
Singleton Jr. is on pace to become one of the top cornerbacks in the state before his high school days are through. He is a long corner with excellent overall speed. His ability to run stride for stride with receivers makes him the perfect counterpart to an offense’s number-one deep threat. In addition to his size and speed, Singleton Jr. does a fantastic job at being in the proper position to make a play on the ball in one-on-one situations, making him a legitimate lockdown corner. Singleton Jr. is on the verge of becoming a breakout player and prime prospect.
Jaeger Lupberger
Jaeger Lupberger
Lupberger is a recent radar pop-up who has shown flashes of talent that gives him the potential to become one of the top sleeper receivers in the class. He is a strong route runner and does and uses his length to help create space from the defender. He gets his head around quickly while in his breaks and does an excellent job locating the ball. His athleticism and concentration allow him to contort his body when making athletic catches, mixing perfectly with his focus during his breaks. One of the many things that stand out about Lupberger is his ability to make acrobatic catches whenever the ball is placed anywhere within his wide catch radius. Lupberger spent his freshman season on the JV squad and is on his way to making a name for himself as a varsity player.
Julian Savalina
Julian Savalina
Savalina is a dangerous athlete with “next up” written all over him. He is an explosive route runner whose shiftiness makes him a nightmare in space. His ability to create separation from the defender comes from his elusive speed and sharp breaks. He does a great job locating the ball in the air and corralling it, especially when making the tough catches. Savalina is in a situation where there is a significant amount of talent around him, but there is no reason for him to be counted out as a young player with the potential to earn a spot as a featured playmaker.
