Offseason work has started for many high school players with aspirations of making it onto a college roster. Some have been hitting the gym and working with trainers, while others have added showcases to their schedules. For the class of 2025, the more crucial season for compiling film as a potential college recruit is just a few months away.
This article will list five players from the class of 2025 who are on the verge of becoming breakout prospects in the recruiting game.
Knapke is the best safety in the class and one of the more complete defensive backs in the state. His ability to diagnose and break down passing concepts shows his advanced understanding of the game, mixing perfectly with his physical skill set. He is a powerful hitter who can sniff out the run and fly downhill to initiate contact. Knapke is one of the best football players in the state, and he gets better with every rep. Any player who can make their presence known as quickly as Knapke can is a player who deserves to be on every radar.

Benner finished his sophomore season as one of the best corners in the state. He is a physical player with a lengthy wingspan and a nose for the football. He led the state in interceptions (11) and had six pass breakups, solidifying his status as a ball-hawking lockdown corner. His ability to flip his hips quickly and his overall speed make him a problematic corner for receivers to beat deep. Benner is a player who could be used to shadow a number-one receiver if needed, making him a must-know defensive back.

Giles-Ray is a very talented player who has started to make a name for himself as one of the better strong safeties in the class. He has a good build on a solid frame and uses that to his advantage when flying downhill to deliver devastating hits to his opponents. His versatile skill set makes him an outstanding athlete in pass coverage and run defense. Giles-Ray has been turning heads since his middle school days, making it no surprise that he is a must-know prospect going into his junior season.

Hayes is a technically sound corner whose sophomore season has opened the door to a very bright future. He does an excellent job of staying patient at the snap and playing to his leverage. His willingness to initiate contact when engaging with the ball carrier while contributing to the run defense shows immense physicality and toughness for a player his size. Hayes’ ability to make a play on the ball while it is in the air is another of the many characteristics that make him a must-know corner with top-tier potential.
Keegan had an outstanding season as a starting corner, earning his place in the spotlight and onto the radar. His explosiveness when breaking on the ball allows him to disrupt catches and shutdown plays, which helped him rack up 19 total pass breakups. He can flip the switch and play with the mentality of a fierce competitor, making him an asset to the defense. Keegan popped up on the radar during his impressive sophomore year, so expect him to have a breakout season this fall.
