We start our journey with a look at a soon-to-be junior offensive tackle already turning some heads at Port Neches-Groves. While in Katy, we took a look at three intriguing prospects, including two brothers that both play defensive end. We wrap up the trip with a slot receiver at a private school in the DFW metroplex who has some impressive ability.
OT Jackson Christian – 6’5″ 300 – Port Neches-Groves HS / @Jackson52344334 (Class of ’25)
The first team all-district selection sees time at both tackle positions for the Indians, and will be a state-wide recruit over the next two seasons. Where he shines is in the ground game. He has the brute strength to push defensive linemen around and take them for a ride. Additionally, he flashes the potential to become an elite puller, but doesn’t yet possess the foot speed to consistently be dominant in this area of his game. In pass protection, he’s above average with his kick slide, but occasionally stands straight up and slightly rocks back on his inside heel. Overall, Christian is an intriguing prospect. He’s the starting left tackle for one of the best teams in Class 5A. Doesn’t yet have any offers, but they should start to come during his junior season.
DE Jimmy-Phrisco Alo-Suliafu – 6’4″ 260 – Katy HS / @Jimmy2Timesss (Class of ’26)
The soon-to-be sophomore was born in Hawaii along with his brother, and certainly looks the part of a future statewide recruit as part of the Class of ’26. He started as a freshman for the Katy Tigers – something that’s not easy to do. Look for a breakout season in 2023.
DE Dallas-Patrick Alo-Suliafu – 6’6″ 215 – Katy HS / @DPAloSuliafu (Class of ’24)
The older brother of Jimmy-Phrisco, Dallas has loads of ability and should have a monster senior season for the Tigers. The motor is always on and his hands are always active in his pass rush, which allows him to set up shop in his opponents’ backfield. When the action bounces outside, nobody will beat him to the sideline. The effort he gives on every single play is teaching tape-worthy. One thing he can add to his arsenal is an effective inside counter. With his length and ability to get offensive tackles to overextend in his pass rush, an elite inside club-rip would help his already polished game immensely. Expect some heavy Division 1 interest as we head into the 2023 season.
Currently receiving interest from San Diego State.
WR Thomas Wright – 5’11″ 175 – All Saints Episcopal / @Thomas_Wright16 (Class of ’24)
Wright will be a nice pickup for a smaller program that will be in the market for a quick slot receiver next season. His get-off is explosive, he runs great routes, and he’s one of the better wideouts in the area private school ranks. Be on the lookout for a big senior season.
LB Landon Saurage – 6’1″ 190 – Katy Taylor HS / @LandonSaurage44 (Class of ’25)
Saurage is a between-the-tackles thumper who also flashes some ability in coverage. He’s a solid inside backer who hits his gap hard and does an excellent job of working his way through traffic in the trenches to make plays consistently versus the run. In the throw game, he’s got some nice range as a hook/curl dropper, reads quarterbacks effectively, and can make clean breaks to make plays on the football. The sophomore starter played better and better as the season progressed, and I look forward to his junior season in 2023.
