Micah Langston Micah Langston 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Norris | 2023 State NE | WR/DB | Norris | 6’0″ 175 lbs
Norris’ Micah Langston Micah Langston 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Norris | 2023 State NE is a name to add to your radar after having a solid season for the Titans. Langston didn’t see a lot of targets, but he still made do with the looks he got, hauling in 15 catches for 219 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. When I watch his tape, I can’t help but notice Micah’s ability to take advantage of coverage cushions in the redzone and in short-distance situations. He’s quick with his feet and can get open for quick dump-off passes, where he can then turn upfield for extra yards. Langston also does a good job elevating to high-point the ball, boxing out his defender, then going up to snag the ball. Micah was also a key player on defense, where he played a hybrid safety role and racked up 23 tackles and an interception. Definitely worth checking this guy out!
Barrett Walker Barrett Walker 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Pius X | 2023 State NE | OL/DL | Lincoln Pius X | 6’4″ 270 lbs
Teams looking for a bookend tackle need to look no further than Pius’ Barrett Walker Barrett Walker 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Pius X | 2023 State NE . Walker was a two-way starter on the OL and DL for the Thunderbolts and dominated both sides. On defense, Walker had 23 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. He eats up blockers on the interior line and uses his strength to get a solid push at the snap. Barrett probably projects best as an OL at the collegiate level, as he has shown lots of polish on that side. He does a great job getting inside hands and maintaining good leverage. He has a strong lower body that generates a lot of power to help him drive back defenders or set his anchor and prevent from getting walked back. Barrett is a very versatile offensive lineman that has seen time at tackle and guard. No matter where you put him, he should be a productive player in college.
Owen Douglas Owen Douglas 5'11" | 150 lbs | DB Bennington | 2023 State NE | DB | Bennington | 5’11” 165 lbs
The Badger’s secondary was full of DAWGS this season! One of them was senior cornerback Owen Douglas Owen Douglas 5'11" | 150 lbs | DB Bennington | 2023 State NE who locked down nearly everyone put in front of him, only giving up ten receptions and zero touchdowns all year. Owen also had 48 tackles, four tackles for loss, and three interceptions with his coverage stats. Douglas has great instincts and knows when to make a play on the ball. Even when he’s not trying to intercept it, he is aggressive with his hands and can get in there to break up passes. One thing that is really impressive about Douglas is his willingness to step up and make tackles on charging runningbacks. His presence on the outside is valuable in coverage and in the run game to limit outside runs. Very rangy player that is loose at the hips and can change direction on a dime. Owen is a great player with a championship pedigree and all the tools to be great at the next level.
Austin Payne Austin Payne 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Grand Island Northwest | 2023 State NE | QB | Grand Island Northwest | 6’0″ 185 lbs
This season the GI Northwest Vikings looked to Austin Payne Austin Payne 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Grand Island Northwest | 2023 State NE to step up as QB1 and he did so in a big way. Austin had a monster season through the air and even tacked on extra yardage with his legs. Payne completed 233 of 365 passes (64%) for 2,679 passing yards and 20 passing touchdowns. One thing that stood out to me about Austin was his pocket mobility and ability to keep plays alive with his legs. He is good at sensing pressure and can maneuver his way through the pocket or kick outside. While navigating the pocket, he also does a great job keeping his eyes upfield to look for open receivers. Austin looks like a natural passer with a smooth release and enough power to push it downfield. As I mentioned before, he can also do damage with his legs, rushing for an extra 427 yards and six rushing touchdowns. Payne holds offers from Chadron State, Hastings College, Nebraska Wesleyan, Buena Vista, Concordia, and Doane and will likely make a team very happy.
