Highlights
Taylor flashed high-end potential all game, but couldn’t seem to hit the mark consistently. He had a nice deep throw to receiver Michael Kirtsis, hitting him on a deep throw over his shoulder, also completing a nice back-shoulder ball near the end of the game. Nevertheless, Taylor missed the mark on some key throws that could’ve possibly changed the outcome of this game.
Without a doubt, Taylor showed two things, that he has a big arm and that he creates outside of structure. One thing is for sure if you can’t place the ball accurately the first two traits, honestly, don’t matter. I expect him to become a more accurate passer going into next year.
The New Jersey player of the year according to Max Preps put was effective on both sides of the ball. He finished the game with 226 yards from scrimmage with three passing touchdowns. Ford put on the full array of his skillset as he couldn’t be stopped through the air and on the ground
In addition, Ford played solid defense. Earning an impressive pass breakup to prevent a touchdown on the first drive of the game and also had some nice tackles and plays in run defense.
Ford showed his all-around skillset which ultimately propelled TRN to the win. However, the coaching staff, I would hope, are asking themselves how they can lessen the load on their star player.
He plays almost all the phases of the game for them and constantly takes punishing hits with how much TRN runs the quarterback. Ford came up limping and hobbling often in the game and they must find a way to distribute some of the rushing load
Dye was one of the few players on Passaic who can make things happen with the ball in his hands. He had an impressive 50+ yard run on his way to Passaic’s only touchdown of the game. Dye has an impressive combination of size and speed at running back and will be one of the hottest running back prospects come next season.
Pruitt is by far, one of TRN’s most impactful and versatile players. He did everything from getting a pass breakup on defense to carrying some of the rushing load on key downs. Pruitt is one of the top players in the state that no one knows about, and his performance in this game supports that thought.
Jones did all he could to make an impact in this game. However, he should’ve had a walk-in touchdown that was overthrown, he also showed that he can make people miss in space and make things happen when the ball is in his hands. He has good burst and speed and can win from different alignments. Jones was of the few bright spots for Passaic Tech.
Josh Moore
Josh Moore
You can never overlook the closer and Moore provided that for TRN. He took a rushing carry 80 yards to the house as he finished the day with 127 yards on ten carries. Moore flashed that speed in the open field that’s tantalizing and went over 1,000 rushing yards on the year. Josh Moore will be a key contributor for TRN going forward.
