This 2022 state final game is a rematch of the 2020 state finals for which the Cardinals won 31-0. The Cardinals pretty much controlled this game from beginning to end. It was the Cardinals ground game that churned out the yardage accompanied by a timely and efficient passing game. Defensively New Bremen used physical play, timely tackles, and a couple of interceptions to keep the Eagles out of the endzone for much of the night.
2023 QB David Homan 6’0 170- Homan had a huge game. He threw the ball as needed, but he did most of his damage with his legs. You name rushing wise he did it. He executed the read option, he ran the ball on draws, and powers. As a runner he has good vision and had some nice juke moves to make guys miss. When he got the ball in the open field he rarely got run down. He made big play after big play. Homan rushed the ball 25 times for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns.
2023 LB Evan Eyink 6’2 215- Eyink had a great game. He played both on the offensive line and linebacker. On the offensive line he helped pave the way for New Bremen’s rushing attack. On defense he played middle linebacker. I’d project him to linebacker at the next level. Eyink had 9 tackles and a half a TFL. He also had a really incredible interception. He was coming off the edge and the quarterback threw the ball. Evan jumped high in the air at near the line of scrimmage and caught the hot pass and brought it down. He moves well for his size, and he has the frame to add weight and strength.
2024 OL Nolan Kuening 5’11 239- Kuening did a great job at Center for the Cardinals. On many occasions he had to block 6’4 300 pound Rice committ, Patrick Valent Patrick Valent 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Warren JFK | 2023 State OH , and did a great job. His snaps were on point and he played with good feet and good technique to make execute his blocks.
2024 RB Antonio Smith 5’9 180- Smith had a nice game. He was the majority of the Eagle’s offense. He carried the ball for 97 yards on 15 carries good for a 4.64 per yard average. He showed off a good burst along with the patience and vision to use his blockers and make plays.
2023 DB Thomas Valent Thomas Valent 5'11" | 185 lbs | DB John F Kennedy Catholic | 2023 OH 5’11 190 pounds- Valent lead the Eagles defense with 12 tackles in the game. He also had two tackles for a loss and 1 pass breakup. Valent is a heady player that is fundamentally sound.
