A few of these prospects hold lower level offers but are still waiting on the Division one level to come through. We took an in-depth look at the Top three!
Kenai Grier – RB – Eastside High School
- Doesn’t possess elite breakaway speed, but is fast enough to gain yardage in chunks when Grier finds a seam.
- A big back with very good feet. He’s a decisive runner with good vision; he’ll locate his hole and get through it more quickly than you’d expect considering his size.
- Not truly explosive, but possesses enough speed to beat linebacker to the edge.
- Grier brings a nice blend of size, speed and power. His best attribute is his relentlessness; he consistently thrashes through tacklers to turn minimal gains into long ones.
Ayden Smith – WR – Lithia Springs High School
- Has elite balance tight-roping the sideline and in-and-out of his breaks, showing excellent start-stop ability and burst.
- Smith was frequently put in catch-and-run situations, and Smith shows good vision with the ability to make tacklers miss in space. He’ll also break a tackle or two; he’s extremely competitive and will give effort as a downfield blocker.
- Very good hands, accepts the ball fluidly on most throws and is ready to make a play afterward. Makes catches in traffic, even going up over taller defenders with vertical and toughness.
- Has rare suddenness with lightning footwork to create in tight areas with elusive shiftiness and change-of direction skills.
Joshua Barker – LB – Kell High School
- Barker has a compact build, but Barker is a crafty edge player who is very good against the run. He sets the edge and effectively wards off blocks with a strong core, powerful limbs, and natural leverage.
- He has an excellent feel for working off blockers and knowing how and when to counter as the play goes on.
- Reads the quarterback to anticipate
- He can move laterally and chase in pursuit. A tough, violent tackler with a non-stop motor, he also shows good awareness when dropping into coverage.
- He plays bigger than his listed size, with the functional strength and motor to take on and hold ground against much bigger blockers.
