Who are they? Let’s take a look…
Tyrese Woodgett – Coffee
A reserve running back who had to earn every carry this past season, the shifty, versatile back made the most of his opportunities, rushing for 758 yards and 9 touchdowns on 83 carries. He played better and better as the season moved along, averaging 9.1 yards per carry while rushing for 100+ yards twice last year. He’ll still be sharing carries next year, but he has enough talent and playmaking ability to get plenty of carries next season. As good as he was as a sophomore this year, look for Woodgett to have a breakout junior season in 2023 and make a name for himself in South Georgia.
Triston White – Valwood
An explosive, consistent back out of Valdosta, White ran through defenses left and right in 2022, rushing for over 100 yards in eight games as a sophomore. He’s an impressive multi-sport athlete and one of the top overall athletes in the area in the 2025 class. He runs hard, breaks tackles, and does a good job of staying balanced after contact for extra yards. He ran 173 times last year as thee lead back for Valwood, gaining 1,369 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was a threat to score every time he touched the ball and will only improve this off-season. He averaged just under 8 yards a carry and went over the 200-yard mark twice last year. Expect him to come out strong next season and have a monster junior season. He has D1 potential and showed it this past season.
Charles Williams – Early County
Down in Southwest Georgia is where you’ll find one of the more productive backs in South Georgia from the 2025 class. Williams, who led Early County is rushing last season, is a tough, physical back and one of thee top two-way players in the area. At running back. Williams breaks a lot of tackles and can put the offense on his back. He rushed 130 times this past season as a sophomore for 971 yards and 10 touchdowns. He got the season off to a big start, rushing for 100+ yards and seven touchdowns in his first three games. He also rushed for 372 yards in the final three games of the season, averaging an outstanding 12.4 yards per carry during that stretch. Look for him to have an even bigger role as a junior next fall.
Jamarious Towns – Brunswick
Another explosive back with big-play ability, the quick, elusive back from Brunswick lead the Pirates in rushing last year as a sophomore, rushing for just under 700 yards and five touchdowns. With two senior backs graduating, look for Towns to help carry the load next year, which should leave to more carries and opportunities to make a lot of plays. As a sophomore last year, Towns averaged 10.3 yards per carry and went over the 100-yard mark twice during the season. He has a natural feel for the position and a lot of qualities that could lead to some D1 interest and possible offers down the road.
