Georgia has plenty, so expect coaches to visit high schools across the state frequently. Here, we monitor some 2023 RBs in Georgia still looking for a home and why you should take a chance on them.
Jamarion Wilcox Jamarion Wilcox 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB South Paulding | 2023 State GA – South Paulding
Coming into the season, Wilcox was a notable prospect looking to build off an elite junior season. 2000+ yards later, Wilcox has turned into a hot commodity at the RB position across the country, adding recent offers from Clemson and Ohio State while garnering interest from Georgia. Wilcox is simply one of the most complete backs in the entire country. He is incredibly explosive and fast, making him extremely difficult to catch. He runs with aggression and with a low center of gravity, keeping his feet churning as he fights and scraps for extra yards. He has also shown the versatility to split out wide as a receiver and hold his own in the downfield passing game. Wilcox checks all the boxes and is a special athlete. Don’t be shocked if you hear his name on your TV screen over the next few years.
Jordan Louie Jordan Louie 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Meadowcreek | 2023 State GA – Meadowcreek
Louie is yet another prospect that has started to pick up some national attention on the recruiting trail. The former West Virginia commit was one of the most productive backs in the state, rushing for over 1500 yards on over 10 yards per carry. He was extremely valuable as a receiver as well, surpassing the 600-yard mark. Along with his versatility, Louie checks a lot of boxes when it comes to evaluating RBs. He has great size at 6’0 215 and happens to be a good athlete as well. He is more of a bruiser-style back with great vision and the ability to stay upright, but he does show some burst and the ability to separate. Louie is the kind of back that can get 30-35 carries a game while being a productive receiver. Due to his wide-ranging skillset and his many tools, I expect him to develop into a formidable weapon at the P5 level.
Peyton Streko Peyton Streko 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB West Forsyth | 2023 State GA – West Forsyth
What a career it was for Streko. Even while battling through unlucky injuries, Streko had himself a very solid career and flashed some serious playmaking ability on tape. As a junior, he almost rushed for 700 yards total in just five games. He bounced back from a major injury as a senior and broke the 1000-yard mark while rushing for 6.7 yards per carry. Streko showcases some awesome vision on film, always keeping his eyes downfield and picking his way through holes upfront. He is very light on his feet and twitchy, allowing him to make people miss in space. Once he gets to the second level, his elite speed and ability to fight through arm tackles make him extremely hard to catch. Streko is a gifted athlete that plays with a chip on his shoulder. He is a true FBS-level talent and will get the opportunity to play at that level.
Cameron Wallace – Montgomery County
Wallace is a player that has been slowly creeping up boards over the last few months and could be an intriguing prospect to watch as we approach the early signing period. Wallace capped off his high school career by rushing for over 1200 yards with 13 TDs. He was also a very dangerous return man. On tape, Wallace plays both ways, and could truthfully play any skill position at the next level, but he seems to project at RB. Wallace is a scat-back that flashes some serious speed and explosiveness. Once he bounces outside, he is off to the races. He can change directions with ease and keep defenders off balance as he weaves in and out of running lanes. With the ball in his hands, Wallace is a threat to score every time. Regardless of if he’s at RB or not, I expect Wallace to get a shot at the FBS level as he already has offers and interests from pretty big-time schools.
Naim Cheeks – Gainesville
Gainesville is in the middle of a state title push, and a major part of their turnaround this season was thanks to Naim Cheeks. Cheeks has been the focal point offensively for Gainesville as he currently has over 2000 total yards on the year with over 1600 of those yards being on the ground. Cheeks isn’t a back that checks all the boxes physically, but he plays exceptionally hard and is a scrappy back that is tough to bring down in the open field. He has great vision, is shifty, and is not afraid of contact. With all of those qualities and his gritty running style, sometimes it feels like the only thing that will stop him is if he falls down. Cheeks has numerous FCS offers and has certainly played himself onto a D1 roster spot with the massive season he is having.
