In Texas, all of the state games were held at one place The AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX. One of the best Stadiums in the country and there we get to witness the results of all these young men’s hard work. Throughout the weekend there were 12 games meaning 12 championship teams and 23 athletes that were awarded MVPs on both offense and defense. I will be breaking down all the offensive and defensive MVPs from each championship team.
5A Division II South Oak Cliff Bears vs Port-Neches Groves Indians (24-34)
Offense MVP (SOC): #18 William Little QB Jr
Willam Little has a great arm and knows how to lead and utilize his great receiving core. William’s passes were always on point and placed his wide receivers in the best spot possible. William was also quick and able to scramble when he didn’t see any available passing options. William’s stats were 9/16 passes completed, 235 passing yards, threw one touchdown pass, and ran in one touchdown himself.
Defense MVP (SOC): #1 Manny Muhammad CB Sr 6’0 175 lbs
Malik Muhammad Malik Muhammad 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB South Oak Cliff | 2023 State TX the defensive MVP is a phenomenal cornerback. Malik is extremely fast using his speed to get in front of passes to either intercept them or deflect them. Malik’s best play was his pick-six interception 41-yard touchdown as soon as he caught the interception Malik zoomed down to the end-zone untouched. Malik is a top college prospect having numerous college and university offers but has decided to change his commitment to The University of Texas to continue his football career. Malik’s stats was a pick-six interception 41-yard touchdown and two tackles.
5A Division I College Station Cougars vs Aledo Bobcats (14-52)
Offense MVP (Aledo): #8 Hauss Hejny Hauss Hejny 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Aledo | 2024 State TX QB Jr 5’11 185 lbs
Hauss Hejny Hauss Hejny 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Aledo | 2024 State TX is the definition of a double-threat quarterback. Hauss loved to scramble with the ball he outran College Station’s defense the entire game. Whenever Hauss saw an opportunity to run he took off for a big gain. Hauss was also dangerous when he had time to sit in the pocket to air out the ball a pass. Hauss currently has two college offers from the University of Nebraska and the University of North Texas. Hauss’ stats were 11/14 passing for 175 passing yards with two touchdown passes and 140 rushing yards with two rushing touchdowns.
Defense MVP (Aledo): #0 Jake Gillespie FS, SS, WR Jr 5’10 180 lbs
Jake Gillespie is a fast, quick, and aggressive athlete. Jake is a free and strong safety that loved to run up and hit anyone on the offense. Jake had the best tackle of the game when he flew into a wide receiver and hit him so hard that the ball came out instantly for Aledo to recover it. Jake used his speed as a punt returner and got a 60-yard punt return on one run. Jake’s stats were 6 total tackles, 1 TFL, one forced fumble, a 20-yard interception, and 76 punt return yards.
