Continue ReadingDAKOTAS– Two nights ago, we released our 2024 rankings for our Prep Redzone Dakotas subscribers and showed off who is the best of the best prospects in the Dakotas in the top 200. Tonight, we turn our focus to the stockrisers. What is a stockriser? These are prospects that turned their game to another level during the 2022 football season in the Dakotas and proved that their skillsets are worthy of the potential to play at the next level. Remember, we evaluate their college football potential with our rankings, not just patting the back on whoever had the biggest stats in 2022. So here is Part I of the December 2022 rankings update; meet the first seven stockrisers in our eyes in the 2024 class.
Ryland Satter Ryland Satter 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Sioux Falls O'Gorman | 2024 State SD , ATH, Sioux Falls O’Gorman (SD) 2024
Moving up nearly 50 spots would be Sioux Falls O’Gorman athlete Ryland Satter Ryland Satter 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Sioux Falls O'Gorman | 2024 State SD . Ryland had a monster year for the Knights, and his versatility in their offense, lining up all over the place and having success is why he’s such a huge stockriser. At 6’3, 215 pounds, Rylan has a plethora of durability, getting broken tackles against some of South Dakota’s best defenses in 11AAA. He also shows a pressing pad level when it is his turn to get out in front of the run and block as on one particular play, I watched Rylan drive and control the defender a good 15+ yards up the field with all that strength he has. Ryland also has some quite elusive feet in the open field, and you don’t see that too much from the fullback spot on offense. Ryland fits all of my boxes when it comes to evaluating talent at the next level, as he has the athletic frame I mentioned, and I am really impressed with his finished escapability when he’s bursting into the open field. His hands with his blocks remind me a bit of South Dakota State and former Sioux Fall’s O Gorman tight end David Alpers from the 2022 class. Ryland has an FCS ceiling, in my eyes. Twitter & Tape
Camron Maciejewski Camron Maciejewski 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Hot Springs | 2024 State SD , LB, Hot Springs (SD) 2024
Once you reach into the top 25 or so prospects in our Prep Redzone Dakotas prospect rankings, the weight of moving up a few spots gets bigger, and that is the case with Camron Maciejewski Camron Maciejewski 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Hot Springs | 2024 State SD of Hot Springs. This young man lit up his stock at our recent Prep Redzone Dakotas showcase in Aberdeen by not just putting up some impressive testing numbers that paint nicely at the next level, but he also has grown out his frame since he was last evaluated a while back coming into our showcase at 6’1 195. Camron’s tape shows off quick instincts with his agility when making his cuts that you might miss it if you blink and carries excellent field vision, and I’ll state again the finished run I enjoy evaluating from prospects pulling away in the open field. As a MIKE linebacker, Camron’s junior tape shows off those read steps to create the best angle available for him to use his feisty motor to create chaos in the opponent’s backfield. He has that quick trigger with his change of direction to be effective off the snap and get downhill quickly when in pass coverage to get to the ball. Camron also shows off that sideline-to-sideline spark I love watching when evaluating tape on linebackers. The 2022 class was the last time we have tracked a West River prospect at the Division I level, and my instincts tell me Camron might be next with that ceiling. Camron checks in at #21 in the 2024 rankings overall. Twitter & Tape
Isaac Jarovski Isaac Jarovski 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD , WR, Sioux Falls Lincoln (SD) 2024
Checking in at #22 overall is wide receiver Isaac Jarovski Isaac Jarovski 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD from Sioux Falls Lincoln, moving up 30+ spots from his last evaluation of the 2024 class. I am intrigued with Isaac’s agile movement the second he gets started with his route-running as he gets the cornerback off guard early to get ample separation and uses that fluid change of direction to his full advantage. He also has the athletic ability to pound go slow & go with his accelerator and still maintains outstanding balance on his deep routes. He also has great ball instincts to read where the ball is coming in from and adjust when he needs to. Isaac averaged nearly 13 yards per catch in his junior season as an All-State performer, and I will be intrigued to see just how much more this young man can develop with his speed, strength on higher-traffic routes, and his ball skills going into 2023 as Isaac looks like a lock to play on Saturdays. Tate Crosswait Tate Crosswait 6'4" | 210 lbs | LB Rapid City Stevens | 2024 State SD , LB, Rapid City Stevens (SD) 2024
Our 2024 rankings were updated so long ago that if I remember correctly, Tate didn’t even have tape available yet but reading about his size at 6’4 210 at the linebacker position and reading local articles from Rapid City about this young man, he’s gone from a watchlist prospect to a top 25 prospect in the Dakotas in a quick flash. Logging significantly over 100 tackles last season for the Raiders, I like watching the endurance Tate plays with from sideline to sideline as he’ll be the one to chase down that ball carrier that is escaping downfield. He carries a big stick of powering strength as well from the fullback spot, as a punch from this young man will send someone into the next area code even though in South Dakota, there is only one. Tate’s lead steps at linebacker have some development brewing as far as his read steps, as he’s consistently one of the first Raiders to the football on the bulk of reps I got to watch on tape. Tate will need to convert his best game tapes into a junior tape very soon this winter, but I believe the upside of this young man shows that he has a lot more to show off in 2023 as one I could see taking big leaps by the next update. Tate checks into our rankings at #24. Twitter & Tape
Leo Strandell Leo Strandell WR Grand Forks Central | 2024 State ND , WR, Grand Forks Central (ND) 2024
Again with our 2024 rankings content, we run into the little brother of North Dakota recruit Sam Strandell as yet another wide receiver in the family in Grand Forks Central’s Leo Strandell Leo Strandell WR Grand Forks Central | 2024 State ND . Leo has a similar smoothness to his routes as Sam had during his time at Grand Forks Central, and even though we caught onto Leo’s skillsets earlier, there is a significant ceiling with the young man that is going to develop well. Leo shows off some long-striding yet excellent agility on his intermediate routes, and that length he has to his lower body twists the defender to give him separation with his physical frame on those outside routes. His change of direction shows off fluid finesse, especially to his left with his route-running ability, and I am sure there is more development coming to him when cutting to his right around the sidelines. Leo shows off a good length with his catch radius, and based on the looks of his tape, I don’t think his tape does the justice of how much longer it really is. Leo has great immense football instincts and vast hands to get that football that is just off the line with his flowing change of direction. Because Leo is a hooper like his brother, in his future tape I hope to see that vertical shown off even more as we look well ahead to the 2023 season as this young man looks like another Strandell brother that can play on Saturdays. Checks into our rankings just outside the top 70 prospects in the Dakotas. Twitter & Tape
Brayden Delahoyde Brayden Delahoyde 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Spearfish | 2024 State SD , WR/DB, Spearfish (SD) 2024
Checking in just from our 2024 watch list to inside our top 80 prospects in the Dakotas is Spearfish’s Brayden Delahoyde Brayden Delahoyde 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Spearfish | 2024 State SD . At 6’4 210 pounds Brayden is yet another physical wide receiver who towers over defensive backs with all that size and has the athleticism to back it up with his route-running ability. One of the first clips I saw from Brayden at wide receiver depicts that ability as he made the catch with his length and with his hands, showing off flawless instinct with his pass-catching skills. He also is a wideout that can get up and go get it with his vertical and shows off vigorous balance and awareness within his skillsets. If you are a defensive back, you do not want to let Brayden loose in the open field as that finished stalk in his lower body has the ability to take it the distance with fluent foot speed. Brayden also levels up early at cornerback (yes, a 6’4 corner), as he shows off that consistency for the Spearfish Spartans on both sides of the ball with some developing technique with his ball-tracking skills. Brayden looks like he will have a college football future here very soon. Twitter & Tape
Dawson Siem Dawson Siem 6'0" | 215 lbs | TE Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD , TE, Sioux Falls Lincoln (SD) 2024
Dawson Siem Dawson Siem 6'0" | 215 lbs | TE Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD of Sioux Falls Lincoln is another Dakotas prospect leaping from our watchlist inside our top 90 prospects in the Dakotas. When I turned on the tape, I like this kid’s willingness to want the football in his hands, something that doesn’t get seen on tape much from tight ends. Dawson might be undersized for the tight end position, but don’t underestimate the strength this young man shows off, as he’s a fighter for yards off first contact. Another skill set Dawson shows off is a promising-sized catch-radius, and I am sure there is more development to be seen with it as we roll into the offseason of 2023. Dawson shows off favorable hands that can make a play just about anywhere within the Patriot’s offense on multiple levels. In my eyes, what would move Dawson higher on the next 2024 rankings update would be working on his pad level with his turn to be a blocking tight end. He has some upside with his angle blocking ability; however, he will need to add more physicality this offseason to move up as a potential stockriser. I like Dawson’s upside, and I believe he’s got more juice in his skills that we will have to stay tuned for this offseason.
