While the regular season was great, the playoffs in each class exceeded expectations as a lot of talent was on display. With that being said, I wanted to take some time to focus on the players that stood out during the playoffs in each class. After covering 1A and 2A, I will now turn my attention to the top playoff performers in 3A. With that being said, here is my 2022 3A All-Tournament Team on the offensive side of the ball.
Cole Hodge Cole Hodge 6’2″ | QB Christian Academy Of Louisville | 2024 State KY is our top ranked quarterback in the class of 2024 in the state of Kentucky and he continued to show that during the playoffs. Hodge led CAL to a 3A State Championship title, completing 63/83 passes for 908 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only one interception throughout the playoffs. Cole has impressive arm talent with the ability to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game and place the ball where only they can get to it. He also puts a nice amount of zip on his passes to fit them into tight windows. Hodge also showed the ability to tuck the ball and make plays on the ground when needed, running the ball 32 times for 203 yards and two touchdowns during the playoffs. Cole currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky and Central Michigan but I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber talent at quarterback and has received a lot of college interest this season.
Tyleeq Williams
Tyleeq Williams
Tyleeq Williams is a player that really jumped out to me in the playoffs. He was a big part of Bardstown’s run to the 3A State Championship Game as he finished the playoffs with 89 carries for 672 yards and eight touchdowns. Williams has great vision as a ball carrier, finding the running lanes and hitting them quickly once they open. He also has the speed to get to the outside and turn up the field where he can simply run away from the defense. Williams also showed the ability to make catches out of the backfield when asked to, finishing the playoffs with five receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. Tyleeq doesn’t currently hold any offers but he will be a name to watch going into next season as he has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.
Trey Cotton
Trey Cotton
Another player that caught my attention during the playoffs was sophomore wide receiver Trey Cotton from CAL. Cotton was one of Hodge’s go-to targets during the playoffs, finishing with 24 catches for 404 yards and five touchdowns. Trey lines up mainly on the outside and is able to use his speed to create separation in the deep passing game. He also does a great job of looking in passes over his shoulder, even when being tightly contested. Cotton is also a very impressive route runner, showing the ability to break down and change speed quickly to create separation from defenders in the breaks in his routes. He also has shown some ability out of the backfield as he carried the ball four times for 38 yards during the playoffs. While Cotton doesn’t currently hold any offers, he will definitely be a name to watch as his role in the offense continues to grow over the next couple seasons.
Kris Hughes Kris Hughes 6’0″ | ATH Union County | 2023 State KY is a player that I’ve been high on all season and he continued to impress during the playoffs. Although Union County got eliminated in the quarterfinals, Hughes still found a way to put up impressive numbers. As a receiver, Hughes finished the playoffs with eleven receptions for 258 yards and three touchdowns. Hughes is an impressive route runner that shows the ability to create separation with smooth breaks in his routes. He also has the speed to run by defensive backs in the deep passing game and very reliable hands. Hughes also showed promise as a running back, carrying the ball 23 times for 151 yards and four touchdowns during the playoffs. He has great vision as a ball carrier and has the elusiveness to make defenders miss, strength to break tackles, and speed to break away from the defense in the open field. Kris doesn’t currently hold any official offers but I’d expect a program to extend any offer to him as he has the talent to play multiple positions at the next level and has received a strong amount of college interest.
LeBran McMullen
LeBran McMullen
While his team was defeated in the quarterfinals, LeBran McMullen still found a way to make an impact during the playoffs. The senior receiver finished the playoffs with 17 catches for 254 yards and three touchdowns. McMullen has shown the ability to line up both in the slot and on the outside and have success. He is very dangerous in the deep passing game as he is able to use his quick release and speed to blow by defensive backs. McMullen is also very impressive after the catch as he uses his speed and elusiveness to turn screens and short passes into big plays. LeBran currently holds one offer from Lindsey Wilson but I believe that he deserves some more attention from college coaches as he has the talent to thrive at the next level.
Ben Stotts
Ben Stotts
Another member of the 3A State Champions that stood out to me was sophomore offensive lineman Ben Stotts. Ben lines up mainly at right guard and is very impressive in the run game. He has a quick first step and does a great job of keeping his feet running through contact to create movement off the line of scrimmage. Stotts also does a good job of getting to the second level and picking up blocks in open space. In pass protection, Stotts has solid footwork and keeps a strong base, not allowing for much penetration into the pocket. Ben doesn’t currently hold any offers but should be a name to watch over the next couple seasons.
I’ve had Tomago Daniels Jr Tomago Daniels Jr 6’5″ | 290 lbs | OL Paducah Tilghman | 2024 State KY high on my radar for a while now and he continued to impress during the playoffs. Daniels is a big, physical offensive guard that is a true mauler in the run game. He explodes out of his stance and finishes his blocks through the whistle. He also has shown the ability to pull and turn up the field as a lead blocker, destroying anything in his path. Daniels is also a reliable pass blocker, keeping a strong base and protecting his inside gap. Tomago currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky and Southeast Missouri State but I expect more to come his way going into his senior year as he has been receiving a lot of college interest over the past year.
Highlights
To wrap up my 3A All-Tournament offense, I have another member of the Paducah Tilghman offensive line. Melvin Puckett Melvin Puckett 6’3″ | 295 lbs | OL Paducah Tilghman | 2024 FL impressed me during the regular season and continued to stand out during the playoffs. Puckett lines up at left tackle and is dominant in the run game. He explodes off the line, driving his man off the line of scrimmage and has a violent initial punch with his hands. Puckett has also shown the ability to pull from the tackle spot and pick up blocks in the open field as a lead blocker. He is also very reliable in pass protection, showing solid footwork and the ability to mirror pass rushers off the edge to protect his quarterback’s blindside. Melvin currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way going into his final season as he definitely has the talent to play at the next level.

Jack James (2025 Quarterback, Paducah Tilghman); Braxton Jennings (2025 Running Back, Ashland Blazer); Daniel Thomas Daniel Thomas 5'9" | 180 lbs | ATH Bell County | 2024 State KY (2024 ATH, Bell County); Brandon Houston Brandon Houston 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Ashland Blazer | 2024 State KY (2024 Wide Receiver, Ashland Blazer); Justin Ruffin (2024 ATH, CAL); George Pace (2023 Wide Receiver, Bell County)
