Here’s a look at some standouts from the title contest:
- Zach Lutmer Zach Lutmer 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Central Lyon/George-Little Rock | 2023 State IA , ’23, QB/DB, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock – Williamsburg had the Lions pinned back on their own side of the field late in the game with a chance to come back. Lutmer essentially iced the game with a fabulous 20-yard run on a third-and-nine. The University of Iowa recruit escaped several tackles on the jaunt. It capped a day when he powered his squad. He finished with 140 rushing yards on 29 carries, and also completed 7 of 13 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. He added a 14-yard punt return and 4.0 tackles (3 solo).
- Derek Weisskopf Derek Weisskopf 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Williamsburg | 2024 State IA , ’24, WR/S, Williamsburg – Central Lyon/George-Little Rock focused a lot of attention on the University of Iowa recruit. It took him away in the passing game, although Weisskopf made his presence felt as a blocker. Defensively, he racked up a game-high 10.5 tackles (6 solo, .5 for loss).
- Josh Elbert, ’23, RB/DB, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock – Elbert toted the rock 16 times for 70 yards, serving as a nice complement to Lutmer. He added a 17-yard catch and returned two kicks for 23 yards. He forced a fumble and had 4.0 tackles on defense.
- Rayce Heitman, ’25, WR/LB, Williamsburg – Heitman is one of the better sophomores I’ve seen this season, and he went all out again in this one. He hauled in three receptions for 95 yards and a 34-yard touchdown catch. He rushed two times for nine yards and returned a trio of punts for 39 yards. He added 8.0 tackles (6 solo).
- Reece Vander Zee, ’24, WR/DB, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock – The tall receiver caught a 30-yard touchdown from Lutmer and added a 10-yard reception. He broke up a pass and contributed a solo tackle on defense.
- Evan Kruger, ’23, OG/DT, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock – Kruger is a factor on the inside of both lines. He helped the Lions grind out yards against a tough Williamsburg defense. On defense, he ranked second on his team with 3.5 tackles (2 solo, 1.0 for loss).
- Gable Dayton, ’23, RB/LB, Williamsburg – Dayton finished up his high school career by disrupting the Central Lyon/George-Little Rock offense for most of the morning. He finished with a game-best 3.0 tackles for loss and 6.0 total tackles.
- Matthew Dieren, ’24, K/P, Central Lyon/George-Little Rock – Points were hard to come by in this game, and Dieren’s 22-yard field goal as time expired in the first half gave his team a 3-0 lead heading into the locker room. Out of timeouts with the clock racing toward zeros, Dieren hustled out on the field and hit the kick under pressure.
