Prep Redzone has all thee details below…
Keeshun McKeever, Cook:
A two-sport star for the Cook Hornets, McKeever showed why he’s one of the more dominant rushers in South Georgia as he ran wild in round one, rushing for 330 yards and 8 touchdowns, leading Cook to a massive 77-35 win over ACE Charter. With McKeever running thee ball, the Cook offense could not be slowed down. He ran with speed, power, and had a game for the ages in the first round. Rarely do you see a running back have this type of game in the regular season, but to do it in the playoffs is completely different. You won’t see many backs across the country have a bigger game than the one McKeever had over the weekend. The Hornets will take on Thomson is round two of the 2A playoffs this upcoming weekend.
Chris McMillan, Peach County:
The Middle Georgia back out of Peach County has been slept on for way too long so far in his career, and after a strong season and a monster round one game in the playoffs, it might not be too much longer for more D1 offers to come his way. A smaller, explosive back with great vision, McMillan plays bigger than his 5-foot-9 185-pound frame and showed last weekend that he can carry his team to victory. He put the Peach County offense on his way and lead them to a big 23-0 win over Crisp County in round one thanks to his 34 carries and 228 yards. He moved the chains, got tough yards, and kept Peach County’s offense consistent all game. Expect this senior to continue carrying the load in week two against Savannah Christian.
Devin Ingram, Stephenson:
One of the top breakout backs in the metro-Atlanta area this year, Ingram got Stephenson off to a great start in the 4A playoffs in round one, rushing 18 times for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He also dominated in the return game, taking two kickoffs back for touchdown. The Jaguars needed every big play from Ingram in this one as they only won by two points in a close 40-38 win over Pace Academy. He was the best player on the field and proved it every time he touched the ball. He showed quickness, elusiveness, and home-run hitting speed in the open field. He looked like a D1-caliber back in week one, and Stephenson will need him to bring his “A” game again in round two against Cedartown.
Dae’Jean Dennis, Ware County:
A quick, shifty back and one of the more underrated backs in Southeast Georgia, the junior from Ware County had a massive round-one last weekend, rushing 17 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns in their 55-13 win over Jones County. The Gators are a winning program that always has plenty of talent on the roster, and they have a talented back who is hoping to lead them deep into the playoffs this year. He’s a back who runs with patience, balance, and has the ability to take off for a big gain if opposing defenders are out of position. He’s a tough back to has no problem getting yards after contact, and he’s someone the Gator offense can lean on. Look for him to have another big week on the ground in week two against Chamblee in the 5A playoffs.
