Led by senior quarterback Kenneth Rosenthal and a bevy of talented playmakers, they averaged a whopping 44.6 points per game and dismantled a talented Jersey Village team in the first round of the playoffs, 55-24. They ran into a bit of a buzzsaw in Round 2, however, and fell short to Ridge Point, 14-10.
In this article, we will take a look at three senior standouts who were responsible for much of the team’s success, and also check out three up-and-coming underclassmen who will keep the success rolling in the coming years.
G Deossie Yancey – 6’7″ 370 / @DeossieLYancey
Yancey is a mammoth guard who consistently overpowers defensive linemen at the point of attack. He has adequate lateral quickness for a big man and will surely bring a competitive upgrade to a smaller program’s offensive line room.
Currently has a handful of Division 3 and NAIA offers.
WR Ayden Turner – 6’0″ 190 / @TheAydenTurnerr
Senior Stats: 12 receptions, 302 yards, 5 touchdowns
Turner does a nice job getting off of press coverage and getting vertical. He runs good routes, finds a way to get open during a scramble drill, and just has a knack for pulling off the big play. Will be a very nice pickup for a smaller program that wants a wideout who has the potential to turn into a top-notch player.
Currently has one Division 3 and one NAIA offer.
QB Kenneth Rosenthal – 6’1″ 195 / @KennethRosent11
Senior Stats: 2,405 yards, 29 touchdowns, 4 interceptions
The architect of the Texan offense, Rosenthal put up some impressive numbers as a senior. The Houston Touchdown Club player of the year finalist is not going to dazzle you with arm strength or elite speed, but what he will do is show you that he can expertly manage a game and consistently make the smart play with the football. Can work his way into the starting job for a smaller program.
Currently has a Division 3 offer from Concordia University-Wisconsin.
OL Tyler Chatman – 6’4″ 275 / @TylerChat1 (Class of ’24)
If you’re at a smaller program and want to add a physical interior lineman to your 2024 recruiting class, keep an eye on Chatman. He’s got great size for the position, a motor that’s always turned up, and adequate upper body strength. He has some technical work to do this offseason in order to work his way into a D2 conversation, but I’m super excited to see him on the gridiron as a senior next August.
Currently has no offers.
S Corwin Gaines Corwin Gaines 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Houston Lamar | 2024 State TX – 5’11” 170 / @GainesCorwin (Class of ’24)
With six pass breakups on the season, Gaines was a leader in the Texan secondary and showed college programs that he’s a man on a mission headed into his senior year. He excels when coming downhill in run support, which is something coaches will love when they turn on the tape. He leaves it all on the field, and it will be exciting to see him continue to develop his game this summer.
