Rolesville vs. Overhills – Defensive Standouts

I was on the sidelines for the State First Round Playoffs Game. Overhills defensive unit put up a stout effort in the first half to contain Rolesville's high-scoring offense. Rolesville began to display its dominance in the second half to take control of the game. The players listed performances caught my attention throughout the game. Carsten displayed good technique and good use of hands to control blockers as he moved past them for stops. He was quick out of his stance to make contact with blockers while moving into the backfield to disrupt the play. The Connecticut commit is the anchor on the defensive line. He displayed patience to let the play develop before reacting quickly to close in on the ball carrier for stops. The recruiting interest is expected to increase for him. Jonathan displayed good technique and use of hands to control blockers as he moved past them for stops. Tristan displayed good technique and use of hands to control blockers while moving past them for stops. He moved well in tight spaces while closing in to shut down the inside running plays. The recruiting interest should increase for him.   Maurqice Staton - CB, 5'8" 150. Maurqice displayed good speed and the ability to change directions quickly to close in on the ball carrier. He displayed quickness and toughness to cover larger receivers throughout the game. The recruiting interest should start for him.   Isaiah Townsend - CB, 5'6" 150. Isaiah displayed good speed and the ability to change directions quickly to close in on the ball carrier. He displayed quickness and toughness to cover larger receivers throughout the game.
