Ahmar Brown Ahmar Brown 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Creighton Prep | 2023 State NE | LB | Creighton Prep | 6’2″ 200 lbs
A major stock riser of the 2022 season is Creighton Prep LB Ahmar Brown Ahmar Brown 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Creighton Prep | 2023 State NE . On one of the stingiest defenses in Class A, Ahmar finished the year in the lead for tackles on the team and made several other huge plays. Brown ended the year with 91 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 3 passes defended, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, and two blocked kicks. Ahmar is a player that could play multiple positions at the next level just based on his athleticism and instincts. He can line up on the line as a linebacker to bring pressure off the edge and shut down run games. You can also put him in a slot/star position and let him lock up receivers/tight ends. He has a tall, lengthy frame that moves quickly, can close space in a flash, and hits hard when he gets to his man. Ahmar also showed his big-play ability by returning both of his interceptions for touchdowns. Ahmar’s potential and versatility are too much to pass up!
Hayden Umble Hayden Umble 5'11" | 200 lbs | ATH Mitchell | 2023 State NE | RB/LB | Mitchell | 5’11” 195 lbs
Continuing the trend of stock risers, Hayden Umble Hayden Umble 5'11" | 200 lbs | ATH Mitchell | 2023 State NE was a key two-way starter for the Mitchell Tigers. Hayden started as running back and outside linebacker this year and put up big numbers on both ends. On offense, Umble rushed for 1,155 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns; he also caught five passes for 109 yards with two receiving touchdowns. When you put on Hayden’s tape, you see a RB that can hit the corner like a cannon and displays outstanding acceleration after doing so. He’s a very strong runner and can usually fend off weak arm tackles with a strong lower body that keeps moving when defenders go low. Defensively, Hayden finished the season second on the team in tackles with 77 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, a pass defended, and a blocked kick. He shows great instincts and can diagnose plays accurately. Once he has diagnosed the play, Umble closes space quickly and does a great job with his tackling technique. Hayden has an overall excellent motor that keeps him flying around the field from kickoff to the last play.
Armani Levering Armani Levering 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Omaha North | 2023 State NE | LB/ATH | Omaha North | 6’1″ 215 lbs
Omaha North’s Armani Levering Armani Levering 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Omaha North | 2023 State NE is a sleeper in a deep class of linebackers. Armani had a great season in his first year playing for the Vikings, fitting in nicely in a talented front-seven rotation. In seven games his senior year, Levering racked up 36 carries, 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception, two fumble recoveries, and a pass defense. Armani is a physical downhill linebacker with great instincts in coverage and against the run. He is patient while making his reads but is explosive when he shoots his gaps. Levering uses his big frame very well when he tackles, driving through his opponent and making sure they get knocked back. When in coverage, he does a good job recognizing plays and driving on the ball when he sees the pass. Armani also has experience at tight end with lots of potential on that side of the ball as well. Great pick-up for any lucky team.
Cole Luedtke Cole Luedtke 6'0" | 265 lbs | DL Lincoln Southwest | 2023 State NE | DL/OL | Lincoln Southwest | 6’3″ 245 lbs
Here’s a true trench warrior that can play either offense or defense at the next level, Lincoln Southwest’s Cole Luedtke Cole Luedtke 6'0" | 265 lbs | DL Lincoln Southwest | 2023 State NE . Cole played left tackle and defensive tackle in the Silver Hawk’s lineup and was a standout player on both sides. I thought Cole especially looked good on the defensive line, where he was incredibly destructive. Luedtke racked up 74 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, and a pass deflection. When you watch his defensive tape, you see how well he uses his length and power to break free at the line of scrimmage. His hands are very explosive, and he has some nice swim/rip moves that have caught several offensive linemen stunned. When you combine this with a quick first step, it makes sense how he broke out for 22 total tackles behind the line of scrimmage. His athleticism and football IQ also translates to the offensive line, where he was a key, reliable blocker to lead for star RB Cal Newell Cal Newell 6'1" | 195 lbs | RB Lincoln Southwest | 2023 State NE . Extremely high-ceiling player!
Jonathan Williams Jonathan Williams 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Bennington | 2023 State NE | WR | Bennington | 6’0″ 160 lbs
Fewer teams lost more key pieces last offseason than Bennington, who graduated an outstanding 2022 class. Needing players to step up, WR Jonathan Williams Jonathan Williams 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Bennington | 2023 State NE stepped up in a major way. It didn’t take long for Williams to become a reliable, safe target for QB Trey Bird Trey Bird 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Bennington | 2023 State NE with his ability to create separation and automatic hands. He’s an underrated route runner with quick, agile feet that help him break off defenders. What I like about Jonathan’s game is not just his ability to get open on short/intermediate routes but also how he can turn upfield and turn on the jets after the catch. Jonathan isn’t necessarily a big receiver, but he uses his body and length very well to make catches outside his frame or when he needs to elevate over a defender. Williams hauled in 42 receptions for 547 yards and eight receiving touchdowns, with the possibility to add to those numbers as the Badgers gear up for a state championship appearance. Keep an eye on this guy at Memorial!
