There are some guys who have been playing very hard on defense this year. I am a guy that loves to watch guys play defense. Playoffs are going on and some of these guys are adding on to their chances with these great performances. Being a defensive player of the year means you have made an impact in more than one ways than one. Let's take a look at some of the studs doing their thing.

6A Potential Candidates

Jermar McCarter from Starkville HS has been having a very great season. He is a big reason that this team found a way into the playoffs after taking some tough losses this season. McCarter is the true definition of an OLB. He has over eighty tackles, several forced fumbles, a few interceptions and a couple of sacks. Those are the type of numbers you want to see a guy have. He has a very great opportunity to win this award.

[player_tooltip player_id='139602' first='Jeffery' last='Rush'], Jr. has been having a very great season as well. This kid started off the season with a very big game having about three sacks and an interception returned for a touchdown. He also has a very high stock in his recruiting process. He is a big playmaker for Pascagoula and their defense. Pascagoula uses him in a lot of different ways on defense.

5A Potential Candidates

Jhace Mallard has been on a roll this season. He is on the pace to have over one hundred tackles this season. He is a super talented linebacker that knows how to fill holes and attack blockers downhill. If West Point continues to roll in the playoffs he will have a great chance to win defensive player of the year for 5A. He separates himself from a lot of players in this classification.

[player_tooltip player_id='344138' first='Jamonta' last='Waller'] has been on an absolute roll this season. This kid is in the backfield every time you look up. Every week he is in the backfield causing problems. He is the kind of guy that college coaches are coming in heavy to recruit, He is a stud that has over ten sacks this season.

4A Potential Candidates

[player_tooltip player_id='340743' first='Gabriel' last='Moore'] is a superstar stud that has been going off all season. In a span of three games he had forty tackles and six sacks. Moore is a guy that gets to the backfield with ease. He does that in the rush defense and passing defense. Moore will more than likely win this award. There are not many guys performing like him in 4A.

[player_tooltip player_id='379881' first='Bryson' last='Walters'] is just a sophomore, but he is a very good inside linebacker. He has over one hundred tackles this season. This guys knows how to read and get in the backfield. Walters is a dude and he loves contact. If Moore doesn't win this award Walters has a very good chance to win it.

3A Potential Candidates

[player_tooltip player_id='139603' first='Fred' last='Clark'] was on a roll this season before they got put out of the playoffs. One of the reasons I have him in this category is because of what he means to their team. Their defense played very well and he was the captain of that. He was the heart and soul of this defense. Clark also told us that right now he is really liking Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

[player_tooltip player_id='286476' first='Elijah' last='Spratt'] has been doing his thing on defense this year. This year he has over four interceptions and he has a great game against one of the best receivers in the nation. He has a very good eye for reading his opponent's routes. He knows how to capitalize from watching film. If Amory keeps winning he has a chance to win this award.

2A Potential Candidates

[player_tooltip player_id='340742' first='Dante' last='Kelly'] has been having a very good season. He is so versatile on their defensive team. He knows how to play linebacker and also knows how to play safety. He is a guy that plays both positions at a high level. He knows how to get it done on defense.

Zechariah Parodi is a name that needs to be mentioned about being a good player in the 2A. He has a nice size and he plays his position very well. I love how he attacks the quarterback and how he gets after in the rushing defense. He has a good way of being elusive in the trenches.

1A Potential Candidates

Kamron Beavers is a guy that plays with a very high motor. He is a big boy that has over ten sacks and over seventy tackles this season. He comes down very hard and has a quick release off the line. He is very unstoppable in the trenches and is hard to block. There aren't many defensive tackles in his class that play the game the way he does.

[player_tooltip player_id='340739' first='Omarion' last='Blakes'] is a guy that has added on to his team in a very great way. He is a superstar that has been shining on offense all season. He does so much for this team. I think he is a guy that we need to take a look at for defensive player of the year in the 1A class. The things that he is doing on the field is not done by most players.
