Teams that are strong in the trenches and try to establish a strong run. That leads to running backs having a monster season, and that’s what we saw this year in Single-A.
Quan Moss – Elbert County
One of the leading rushers across the 2023 class this year, Moss was a tackle-breaking machine with plenty of size and power at 6-foot-1 205-pounds. He was the leading rusher in Single-A this year, leading the Elbert County offense on the ground with 277 carries for 1,602 yards and an outstanding 25 touchdowns. When he was near the goal-line this year, nobody was stopping him. He runs behind his pads, stays up after first contact, and can really wear down a defense. He carried the load for Elbert County offensively, rushing for over 100 yards in every game this season with an average of 160 yards per game. His best game of the year came against Commerce where he rushed 34 times for 206 yards and five touchdowns in a big 41-21 victory.
Cam Vaughn – Temple
He may play quarterback, but it’s hard to find a more electric runner than Vaughn, who has run wild against opposing Single-A defenses all season long. He glides when he runs and picks up big yards in a hurry. He’s quick, explosive, and can zig-zag through defenses with ease. If you don’t contain him, he can escape the pocket and take off for a big gain. He’s dangerous on the ground and proved it every Friday night this season. He rushed for over 100 yards in every game but one this season, proving to be one of the more productive rushers in Single-A this season as a senior. So far this season, Vaughn has rushed 162 times for 1,480 yards, averaging a giant 9.1 yards per carry along with 20 touchdowns. His best game this season came against Pike County where he rushed for 270 yards and six touchdowns.
DJ Rogers DJ Rogers 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Pepperell | 2023 GA – Pepperell
One of the most productive running backs in Georgia over the last two season, the North Georgia back out of Lindale dominated again this year as a senior and was one of the leading rushers in North Georgia and across the Single-A classification this year. Through his first 8 games of the season, Rogers took off for 1,195 yards on 129 carries for an average of 9.3 yards per carry and 15 touchdowns. He’s explosive, elusive, and tough to corral for any defense in the area. He’s played a lot of football and knows how to break off a big run on any particular carry. He’s rushed for over 100 yards in seven games this year and has found the end-zone in every game through his first 8 games. He’s a big play waiting to happen and has had a special high school football career so far.
CJ Allen CJ Allen 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Lamar County | 2023 State GA – Lamar County
One of the top overall prospects in the state, Allen is one of the nation’s top linebackers and committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, but he’s also one of the better rushers in the entire Single-A classification. A tough, powerful prospect with plenty of muscle, Allen is a phenomenal athlete who runs like a deer at 6-foot-2 220-pounds. He breaks a lot of tackles and has enough durability to carry his Lamar County offense on his back. He pounds away on defenses and has no problem bashing through tackle after tackle. He was consistent all season long, rushing for over 100 yards in seven games this season. While playing linebacker as well, the high four-star prospect rushed 115 times on offense for 1,162 yards and an outstanding 21 touchdowns. He’s rushed for at least 88 yards in every game and has scored a rushing touchdown in every game this fall as a senior. He’s easily been one of the best small-town backs and overall athletes in Georgia this season.
