The Wildcats finished the regular season at 7-3 and claimed a share of the 6-4A DI District Title after blanking Fort Worth Dunbar 64-0 in their season finally. Kennedale had several Marc D’ Men who set the tone as the Wildcats head into the post season.
Cameron Lyles | 5’11 190 | Running Back | Class of 2023 | Twitter: @CameronLyles_2
Lyles is bruising runner, who runs behind his pads and finishes runs falling forward. He is shifty in small spaces, which allows him to manipulate his body in the hole and get small. Cameron follows and sets up his blocking using great vison and has a one cut and get north quickly running style. When he gets his engine charged up he gets downhill in a hurry. Lyles’s skill set fits perfectly in the run heavy, quick set offense of the Wildcats. On the season, Cameron has rushed for over nine hundred yards and seventeen touchdowns. After rushing for one hundred forty eight yards and two touchdowns against Fort Worth Dunbar, he stood out as one the Marc D’ Men for the Kennedale Wildcats.
Poasa Utu Poasa Utu 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Kennedale | 2023 State TX | 6’0 205 | Defensive End/ Outside Linebacker | Class of 2023 | Committed to Oklahoma State | Twitter: @poasautu
Utu was the best player on the field. He is relentless, he purses his opponent no stop and has the speed to run down plays from the backside. Utu has a non stop motor, has an explosive, aggressive first step and as a pass rusher closes quickly a with a vengeance. The Oklahoma State commit showed up as a Marc D’ Man vs Fort Worth Dunbar, returning a kickoff for a touchdown, blocking a punt and returning it for a score and put constant pressure on the Dunbar offense all night long. For Kennedale, his role is an edge rusher /outside linebacker, but when he gets to Stillwater, he will no doubt transition to linebacker. What’s most impressive about Utu is the speed at which he plays the game and his constant drive and hustle to make a play.
Daunte Scott | 6’1 165 | Athlete | Class of 2024 | Twitter: @Dedaunte3Scott | Offers: Utah, Oklahoma
Scott has good length, runs crisps routes at wide out and his blocking is key in the run oriented Kennedale offense. Against Fort Worth Dunbar, his downfield blocking was physical at the point of attack and when gets his hands on his opponent, he locks in. During film study of his season, he plays like a Marc D’ Man on defense. He uses his hands well to reroute receivers, plays a physical game and is a ballhawk in the Wildcat secondary. He possesses an extended catch radius and Scott high points the ball. With the ball in his hands on either side of the ball, Daunte is a smooth runner, he is shifty in the open field making defenders miss and runs with power. Scott has offers from Utah and Oklahoma.
Jaylen Webb | 6’2 180 | Athlete | Class of 2023 | Twitter: @JaylenWebb1
Against Fort Worth Dunbar, Webb had a highlight reel touchdown catch on a fade route, that shows his next level athleticism. This one play displayed his ability as one of the Kennedale Marc D’ Men. After watching his 2022 season tape, there is no doubt that Jaylen is a big play waiting to happen. Defensively, Webb comes downhill from his safety position and lays the wood. He plays under control, uses good leverage, tackles well in the open field and plays fast. The most impressive trait that Webb shows on film, is his closing speed to the ball carrier. Jaylen uses his 6’2 frame and extended catch radius to make plays from the free safety position. Webb is a long strider with speed and he has the range to cover ground on the back end. As a wideout, Webb is a natural hands catcher, who wins at the 50/50 ball routinely. He tracks the football superbly, which has allowed him to make several over the shoulder grabs, as well as one-handed catches. Webb makes his presence felt in the return game also and this season he took back a kick to the house for six. Jaylen has received interest from multiple schools and whoever signs him will be getting a steal.
Kameron Sallis Kameron Sallis 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Kennedale | 2023 State TX | 6’0 190 | Defensive Back | Class of 2023 | Kansas State Commit | Twitter: @KameronSallis
Sallis hits like a truck from his defensive back position. His ability to diagnose, read and react on defense, allows him to make plays routinely in the Kennedale secondary. Kameron has a well trained eye, to go along with his natural ballhawk instincts, which puts him in position consistently to make interceptions. Once he gets the ball, he turns into an offensive player and had a pick six early in pre-district play. While Fort Worth Dunbar didn’t challenge the Wildcats in the final home game, Sallis made his presence felt with several tackles and will be a key cog in the Kennedale secondary as they head into the Texas State Playoffs to face La Vega.
