In this article, we will take a look at four seniors who are, in the words of Dick Vitale, “super, scintillating, sensational!” Did you just imagine that in the legendary announcer’s voice? Great. That’s what I was going for.
WR Cory O’Bryant – 6’0″ 170 / @CoryOBryant1
Regular Season Stats (through 9 games): 50 receptions, 1133 receiving yards, 19 touchdowns
O’Bryant has shredded defenses all season long, and he’s done it at the 6A level, so it’s very surprising that a Division 1 program hasn’t offered him. He is a playmaker who can change a game in an instant and give his opponent’s #1 corner all he can handle when the lights come on. Another thing that stands out about him is his versatility. You can line him up in the slot, out wide, or in the backfield, and he will deliver in a big way.
QB Reed Odell – 6’5″ 200 / @Reed_M_Odell
Regular Season Stats (through 9 games): 174/262, 3204 yards, 31 TDs, 3 interceptions. 66.4% completion.
Cory’s quarterback at Tomball Memorial is as good as they come – and he’s got the numbers to prove it. Coming off an impressive Week 9 performance vs Klein Oak – 24/32, 375 yards, 4 TDs – he should see the offers start to roll in soon enough. In this era where everybody’s looking for a smaller dual threat guy under center, it’s refreshing to find a quarterback like Odell. He is a prototypical, pro-style pocket passer that will be an absolute steal for somebody on signing day. Cannon for an arm. Stays poised under pressure. Can expertly read a defense. Most importantly, he’s accurate. He’s got all the things you look for in a signal-caller.
RB Deontray Scott – 6’2″ 200 / @DeontrayScott3
Regular Season Stats (9 games played): 1,377 rush yards, 17 touchdowns
In the regular season finale this past Friday night, Deontray ran for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. He showed once again that he is one of the top backs in the area, and has put together the kind of film that will make college coaches take notice. He is a big, hard-nosed, one-cut runner with impressive speed and the necessary vision to find running lanes. I anticipate Scott having an offer-filled next two months.
TE Amareus Walker – 6’6″ 220 / @Walllkeerr
The Irving MacArthur product is raw, but has the athleticism, grit, and upside you want to see in a tight end prospect. He is a versatile playmaker that can be lined up with his hand in the dirt, or in the slot – since he’s a vertical receiving threat. He has mismatch size and should develop into an elite redzone target in college. The one thing that stands out about him, above everything else, is the fact that he’s extremely raw and has not gotten a ton of reps over the years as a tight end. This, combined with his length, size, and overall athleticism, makes Walker a must-have in your 2023 recruiting class.
