Ryan Retzer Ryan Retzer 6'3" | 265 lbs | OL Belle Plaine | 2023 State MN – (Belle Plaine High School). 6’3 285 Lbs. C/o 2023. @ryan_retzer (Augie)
A lineman’s dream, a pick six! That is how Ryan’s senior film begins and it gets better from there. The things that stand out are first, he is a finisher. I have mentioned before when evaluating offensive line film, you are always looking for guys who want to finish people to the ground and Ryan shows this repeatedly. Secondly, feet, when you get a frame of Ryan’s size you may have some movement concerns that you want to check out and he does a very nice job of moving his feet. There is a great defensive line clip where he executes a one gap lateral movement, and then once he realizes it is screen, he re-directs and ends up with an interception. That one clip is great for evaluation of his movement skills and re-direction ability. I would like to see him continue to work on playing with a little more bend in his hips but there is a ton of good stuff to build on for his future in college football.
Ruhan Jordan Ruhan Jordan 6'1" | 165 lbs | WR Eastview | 2023 State MN – (Eastview High School). 6’0 165 Lbs. C/o 2023. @RuhanJordan
A very high-level wide receiver coach friend of mine used to use the term “Rage” off the ball when teaching his guys their get-off and when I put Ruhan’s film on it reminded me of this conversation. He attacks off the line of scrimmage and every route feels like he might be going deep before he declares what he is really doing. He plays with great footwork and balance and can get in and out of breaks with ease. He also shows a depth understanding of finding soft spots in zones and working to open areas to make himself available for the quarterback. This is a smooth athlete who most likely translates to the slot at the next level.
Timothy Buckholtz- (Maple River High School). 5’11 195 Lbs. C/o 2023. @Timothy86171557
When evaluating a runningback there are so many things to look for and quite frankly there are so many different styles of effective back in today’s varied offenses. As a college coach it is vitally important that you understand the style of back that fits into your system because a dynamic back might not fit one offense but thrive in another. Tim is a joy to watch particularly working between the tackles. He has great feet, can jump cut and shows very nice patience when he needs it. He can read blocking schemes and win in tight spaces with small, abrupt movements. What I like most is that he is always finding a way to get vertical. Although he might not be a homerun hitter at the next level, he is going to be an efficient back who doesn’t put his offense in bad situations, he will squeeze everything out of the blocking in front of him.
Peyton Himley Peyton Himley 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Edina | 2023 State MN – (Edina High School). 6’2 200 Lbs. C/o 2023. @HimleyPeyton (UST)
This was a fun one to watch. DB/WR/OLB/RB Peyton has a skill set which makes him a virtual swiss army knife type athlete. There are so many fun plays it is hard to highlight them all. The firs play is a run to the house from the backfield showing speed and vision. He comes back later with a post that he blows the top off the coverage and runs by everyone. However, probably my favorite clips are on the defensive side of the ball, you get to see how smooth he is when he flips his hips, his instincts and awareness in coverage as well as the physicality he brings when tackling on the perimeter or blitzing off the edge. There is something for everyone in Peyton’s film!
Hunter Collins- (Simley High School). 6’6 250 Lbs. C/o 2023.
Hunter is a giant with a huge upside. Watching through various games and highlights a few things become clear. Like many 17-18 year olds he is very raw and will need to continue to progress on the finer points in playing the position of offensive line. With that being said what excites me the most is how well he can move for that size. You can see pulling reps as well as screen reps that really show you just what kind of potential he has. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him really dominating at some level in 2-3 years as his technical skills catch up with his physical potential.
