At the beginning of the game, Hightower used its fast-paced offense to get on the board early and scored two touchdowns in the 1st quarter. However, C.E Kings in the 2nd quarter started picking up the pace on both offense and defense they were able to score three touchdowns in the 2nd quarter alone. In the 2nd half, Hightower was able to fight back a bit, but C.E Kings was on a roll and took a big lead. The final score of the game was 38-21 with C.E Kings moving on to round 4 to play against The Katy Tigers. C.E Kings had a great offensive roster which I’ll be discussing in this article.
#3 Denim Johnson QB Sr 5’10 160 lbs
Denim Johnson had a solid game against The Hightower Hurricanes. I didn’t get much of a chance to see Denim’s passing skill C.E Kings was a run-heavy team. However, the majority of Denim’s passes were accurate and put C.E Kings in the 1st down position allowing them more chances to run the ball and giving them more momentum. Denim’s stats were one touchdown pass and ran in a 48-yard touchdown.
#4 Keith Willis RB Sr 6’0 225 lbs
Keith Willis is one of the biggest high school running backs I’ve ever seen. Keith weighting at 225 I thought he would be more of a power back, but to my surprise, he excels with his speed and quickness. Keith is like a wrecking ball coming down with speed and velocity destroying everything in his path. Keith is the cornerstone of the C.E Kings’ offense and a big reason why they’re still in the playoffs. Every time Keith ran the ball he got a 1st down or more. Keith currently has four colleges and university offers from; McNeese State University, the University of Incarnate Word, Blinn Junior College, and the University of Northern Iowa. Keith’s stats were 27 carries with 200 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
#14 Vincent Jones WR Jr
Even on C.E Kings’ run-heavy offense wide receiver Vincent Jones was still showing out. Vincent as expected from a wide receiver is quick and fast usually beating out his defender to get wide-open for passes. Vincent is the main wide receiver and was able to give the C.E Kings offense a lot of options by being able to pass him the ball knowing he will downfield waiting for them. Vincent’s stats were 5 receptions with 72 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
