Foley was the best of both worlds this year when it came to being an elite tight end, someone that is an elite pass blocker for his quarterback and is also a pass-catcher comparable to a magnitude of wide receiver. His speed was simply unbeatable, even being able to beat defensive backs in one-on-one coverage when it comes to speed put simply he was a matchup nightmare anytime he was on the field, and good luck trying to stop him authentically. What made him even better is that he is a great blocker and, was able to utilize motion and his upper body strength that he possesses to lay down some great blocks and be an even better pass blocker for his quarterback, if he was found out catching passes. Fully is the ideal tight end in everything that you would want in it, which lends him the number one spot on our ranking list.
- Sam Siegfried Sam Siegfried 6'4" | 225 lbs | TE SF Jefferson | 2023 State – Sioux Falls Jefferson
We close second we have Siegfried who was possibly the best offensive type end on this list this year and proved to be one of those college-ready players that I saw tape off and got to see in person. What he did on the field was rug some great routes and it always seemed like he was finding a way to get open, using his size and verticality to achieve that on the field. Linebackers and defensive backs to a very hard time containing him not only for his size and speed that he had compared to them put on also for his offensive IQ and ability to get open. Overall Siegfried was a great offensive weapon and quickly proved to be one of the best kinds of the top to go to have this year, landing him on the 2 spot
- Sam Hindbjorgen Sam Hindbjorgen 6'5" | 230 lbs | TE SF Lincoln | 2023 State – Sioux Falls Lincoln
Hindbjorgen was a great player all throughout the year and was part of the team that needed his offensive production to reach the levels that they did, that being when they were short check-down passes or other shorter throws down he was. While his blocking would be not as great considered others, he more than makes up for that with his offensive ability specifically being a huge Red Zone threat, he always finds a way to get open when it comes close to the end zone and often would get above double-teams and sell them even triple teams at times, showing how dangerous he is as a touchdown score any time he gets in that area. Hindbjorgen is not only a very college-ready Prospect and has some great potential to him, but he’s just an all-around great offensive player which lands him at the number 3 spot on our list
- TJ Salmen TJ Salmen 6'7" | 200 lbs | TE Hitchcock-Tulare | 2023 State – Hitchcock-Tulare
Salmen was an all-around tight end I did a little bit of everything, and while he did not go to get many opportunities to catch passes on the field, he was a great blocker when he needed to be. what run-blocker Who blocks in establish running lanes for his running backs like no other, Great blocks and pretty much any time that he is on the field, and he works well with his team being able to stay in sync with what the offense is going to and maintain a rhythm to keep the offensive running game going pretty much at every single time. When he gets the opportunity to catch passes he is a great threat to take out some linebackers and make some catches in the open field, where he is very hard to bring down due to his size that he pretends as a tight end. while his main job is blocking in this he is an overall solid title human catching the passes.
- Jackson Hoffman – Brookings
Hoffman while did not have a year compared to other tight ends, lands, and sometimes simply for the prospect that he possesses compared to others. With tight ends, it is hard to truly rank them since it’s Hit or Miss as to what they do in their role, but Hoffman has some college-ready Prospect material that makes him an interesting option compared to other tight ends that we saw the state. We’re most tight ends in South Dakota are exclusive blockers that will sometimes catch some passes off and really did not have a defined role as a tight end, be more of a utility player dark blocked and caught passes but did not always line up in the traditional title spot on the offensive line sometimes lining up even outside or in the slot. it was an interesting year for him and I think he is a college prospect that Scout should start taking a look at, so often leads at the Five Spot on our list
